Wow...explains why he stepped down, I guess he knew it was his time...RIP

Not surprising. He didn't look that well at the beginning of summer, I didn't think he had long to live then.

He sure did a lot for the computer world.

RIP

Apple's website announces the sad news that Apple co-founder and former CEO Steve Jobs has passed away. Jobs was 56 years old, and had been struggling with complications related to pancreatic cancer over the past several years. Apple leaves the following message on their website in tribute to Jobs:

Apple has lost a visionary and creative genius, and the world has lost an amazing human being. Those of us who have been fortunate enough to know and work with Steve have lost a dear friend and an inspiring mentor. Steve leaves behind a company that only he could have built, and his spirit will forever be the foundation of Apple.

Apple has released this statement:

We are deeply saddened to announce that Steve Jobs passed away today.

Steve’s brilliance, passion and energy were the source of countless innovations that

enrich and improve all of our lives. The world is immeasurably better because of Steve.

His greatest love was for his wife, Laurene, and his family. Our hearts go out to them and to all who were touched by his extraordinary gifts.

I still have my original Mac Plus from 86 complete with 1meg of RAM and still working today, a true design classic.

RIP - I thought the same thing, when I saw that he was stepping down, he did not look well. Can't say I'm shocked, but still very sad news.

It is a sad day to see the passing of Steve Jobs. His true genius was not in the products that Apple made, but it was in the way he marketed them to the world. Others may have invented them first, but he made them sexy and cool.

Even though I am a PC guy, I tip my hat to you Steve jobs. RIP.

I too am a PC guy but I can't ignore the impact he has made on the world of electronics. A sad day indeed.

I'm saddened not for the loss of his genius.... but for the passing of someone who was still so relatively young. That to me is the real tragedy.

It also puts into perspective the destructive and indiscriminate nature of cancer - that a man with endless wealth was not able to defend himself against it. I truly hope that one of Mr Jobs' enduring legacies is to highlight to the world the that we must continue to strive to find cures for such terrible illnesses.

Godspeed Steve......

My mother lost her twin brother to the same thing at the age of 39. Just a horrible way to die, something I will never forget. My heart goes out to his family.
