OZCUBAN Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 Hi All Just thought I would share my latest acquisition , a 50 cab of the PUNCH Super Seleccion No. 1 BOX CODE SUA FEB02 RING GAUGE 42 LENGTH 154 mm / 6.1 in These are something I thought lost forever ,well for me any way A huge fan of some of the Punch marque Punch Royal selection 11 & 12 Punch Super Robustos and many more ,as for the PSS1's I had never had one ,but the reports and reviews over the years were glowing then i happened to come across these ,vintage as well ,well i could not resist These cigars and many others that have been deleted including the Partagas SERIE DU CONNOISSEUR series ,could very well be the best Cuba has ever produced IMHO, I know Cuba has produced many out standing Cigars in its long history ,but thats just it they are killing off their own History Corporate brand assassination as i refer to it I still would like then to do limited productions on some of these classic cigars . Oh and here are the pics review to follow once the weather improves Cheers OZ

Smallclub Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 ,as for the PSS1's I had never had one ,… These cigars and many others that have been deleted […] ,could very well be the best Cuba has ever produced IMHO,[…] So you've never had one but you say they're the best ever produced? How did you form an opinion?
OZCUBAN Posted September 21, 2011 Author Posted September 21, 2011 So you've never had one but you say they're the best ever produced? How did you form an opinion? From what I have read and heard plus when I wrote this today I had already had one of them last night ,like I said review to follow " my statement stands " they are brilliant
buster Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 Looking forward to the review. I've got a cab stewing in the online humi, not quite as old, MAR 08, but I'm hoping they'll be crackers. Rick
cottierm Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 I have wonderful memories of these ones. Alas, only memories now! Enjoy them to the full as long as this box is lasting! tmac77 Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 That box looks really yummy. I love the Punch Marca, my all time favortie Punch is the SS#2, the Corona Gorda cousin of these.
PigFish Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 Funny you posted these Ozzy. I have a couple of cabs of these that I just can't find. I have been meaning to break one open and see how they are. Congrats on your findings and thanks for sharing. H SA et al... another unforgivable **** up on your part! RIP Punch SS #1. -Piggy
aavkk Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 I too love this cigar, congrats on a great find. The 02's that I have had are dark, brooding cigars that demand being taken seriously. they command your attention. They are a great example of the quality and individuality of cigars rolled in 2002. Rob, you mention 06 was the year of the decade but I challenge you to come up with a list of 02's that aren't smoking brilliantly right now. I would just about buy any cigar from 02 or 03 from my reputable vendors without question... especially these.

The plugged ones....only kidding Some great cigars in 02 and 03. Construction was getting better particularly in the smaller formats but the larger formats (Churchill/DC) had some major issues. HDM Churchill and DC come to mind, Punch as well. Winston was remarkable from that year. Oz, Ken and I shared a Punch SS1 last night as we caught up. It was brilliant!

My only regret is that I did not discover these and many others earlier Better late than never only had one so far ,dark and brooding seems to fit the bill Not bad for a nine year old cigar OZ
LeafLover Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 Simply beautiful!! Long Live Punch! HSA gets the one fingered salute once again.
