rock Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 I am just curious how much people spend on cigars per month. If I am on the lower side than most than I will show my wife the poll and try to guilt her into a bigger cigar allowance. If I am on the higher side of norm than she will never know.
Van55 Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 I am just curious how much people spend on cigars per month. If I am on the lower side than most than I will show my wife the poll and try to guilt her into a bigger cigar allowance. If I am on the higher side of norm than she will never know. I have bought no cigars since my diagnosis in March of 2010, so I voted in the 0-250 category. In my heyday, I would guess that I spent $250-$500 per month -- sometimes more, but that would be the average, I think. Your wife obviously thinks of cigars as a luxury. You need to convince her that they are a necessity, without which you would have to pay $200.00 or more per week for psychotherapy.
riazp Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 I put 0-250 in reality I can go a few months without purchasing anything, but if I do a monthy average it works out to be about 100$ a month
CM125 Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 I put down 0 to 250 but on average for the month usually I spend about a 100 dollars sometimes I buy a box and then sometimes I buy singles. Curtis
Orion21 Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 0-250 because I buy $1,000-$1,500 at one time and then the bug is gone for a few months. BTW, they are being added faster than they are being smoked...
Puros Y Vino Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 I've been averaging about $500/month since last December to present. Have plenty of stock for immediate enjoyment and aging for down the road enjoyment. I'm probably done for a while though I do have an eye on a box or two, so we'll see.
Disburden Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 I buy less than once a month and let them sit and sleep. Now I due give in from time to time and buy a cheap pack of NC like an Oliva or something but they usually aren't good cigars...
rock Posted June 21, 2011 Author Posted June 21, 2011 Looking at this Rob will have a steady income for a long time.
aavkk Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 I am at the point now where buying 3-4 boxes a year maintains an extensive aged inventory for me including cigars gifted. Therefore I put down 0-250. I'm very happy with my current selection and will supplement with great boxes from time to time.
dicko Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 less than $250 but not by much. considering my low income, that is pretty scary lol
oliverchang514 Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 Mine is prob less than 100 bucks a month Probably $500-1000.. My collection of sticks are definitely growing. I'm trying to slow down because of space constraints before I buy either an Aristocrat THC or Avallo cool 1200 or cool 2000. Decisions Decisions..
jedipastor Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 I'm cutting back on purchases. In fact, I'm selling off some of the stash in order to make more purchases. I don't think of cigars as a luxury (though they are), but a hobby--that's how I spin it to the wife. This is my hobby, and it's cheaper than many others (golf, skiing, creating a robot skeleton army, etc). I probably SMOKE $200+/month worth of my stash, though.
IcedCanuck Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 I voted for the 0 - 250 category but I do not buy cigars every month. I bought two boxes last month and two boxes the month before last but I have not bought anything this month. I might not buy anymore until maybe August or September at which point I'll probably pick up two or three more boxes. I also tend to buy more in the spring and summer. Once October/November rolls around my purchasing slows down unless I see I really good deal.
bassman Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 <$250. I've bought more than I've smoked for many years & am now enjoying smoking down my stash. Only buy now if something looks especially interesting.
OZCUBAN Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 less than $250 but not by much. considering my low income, that is pretty scary lol Hi Dicko wait till your all Lawyered up then u will be laughing OZ
BobKincaid Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 I don't think of cigars as a luxury (though they are), but a hobby--that's how I spin it to the wife. This is my hobby, and it's cheaper than many others (golf, skiing, creating a robot skeleton army, etc). Not sure about that robot skeleton army. With the right incantations, it can be pretty low cost, if you don't count the blood offerings to the Lord of Darkness.
ZinZan Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 Probably $500-1000.. My collection of sticks are definitely growing. I'm trying to slow down because of space constraints before I buy either an Aristocrat THC or Avallo cool 1200 or cool 2000. Decisions Decisions.. I'm having the same problem, running out of space. But my decision is more skewed towards cooler or wine fridge
Rogers72 Posted June 24, 2011 Posted June 24, 2011 i keep an inventory of between 5-8 boxes. I smoke about 3-5 cigars/week and probably replace that every year so I'm guessing I buy about 10 boxes a year which probably averages out to about $200/month. That works pretty good for me.
Maron76 Posted June 26, 2011 Posted June 26, 2011 I have been over the 1k mark since finding this place. Before that it was around 500.00. In my defense I am trying to build up stock so I can start aging them and not have to touch them because I am out. Lisa is both the devil and and a godsend at the same time. she is always fining me great boxes! I don't even want to look at what this months damage is. The LITH Show has been very hard to for me to stay away from. Lots of great cigars that Rob picked out this month. I have definitely stepped onto that slippery slope, and slid all the way down under!
ramon_cojones Posted June 26, 2011 Posted June 26, 2011 A lot since I got the aristocrat but will slow down.
Holysmokes Posted June 26, 2011 Posted June 26, 2011 Wow, I am really surprised at the number of people who say they spend more than a 1000$ a month. That's a lot of cash. As for me, it's hard to say exactly how much I spend a month. I normally have a huge order of around 3500$ to 5000$ once or twice a year... so divide that by 12 and it equals to 416.66$ per month. ****, now that I look at it this way I can't help but think that that is a pretty big chunk of money : ( Oh well it's all worth it!
dB69 Posted June 27, 2011 Posted June 27, 2011 What I have spent to cigars, that's a good question. Average per month during 6 years: 125€ = $177 Average per month in 2010: 310€ = $439 Average per month in 2011: 450€ = $638 Looks like I have to slow down a little...
