What was your first "Oh my God..." moment that caused you to fall in love with cigars? The one that made you first realize just how much pleasure a cigar can provide. Not your first, but the first one that was good to you. Not the one that ::ahem:: popped your roughly cigar cherry , but the one that FIRST sat you down and made sweet sweet love to you. I mean this all figuratively of course.

What were you smoking? What kind of emotions did you have? Has your wife wished that day never came? Does the cigar that provided you with that first "Ahhh HAH!" moment still have a special place in your heart (and humidor)?

First one that blew my mind was an 08 siglo iv a year and a half ago believe it or not. First one that was gifted to me was plugged so my buddy replaced it with another. Damn, there were so many flavors coming out of that including vanilla. I heard the guys talking but I wasn't listening. On the drive home and the next morning I couldn't stop thinking about that cigar. I woke up with a smile on my face and the rest of my day was great because of the mood it put me in. Haven't has another that has done that to me but some have come close. Another was an 08 Coro that blew my mind last summer, had a smile on my face the whole time I was smoking that. Just recently had an 08 d4 that was at least a 95 point cigar, same thing woke up next morning with cinnamon on my brain.

Hard to say, especially from the "blow my mind" standpoint. But off the top of my head, cigars that made me realize a cigar could be more than just rolled

up tobacco were the original Costa Rican made Bahias - Golds and Trinidads - when Douglas Pueringer ran things for Tony Borhani.

Probably my first H. Upmann Sir Winston. A friend and I smoked one next to Sacre Coeur after getting completely messed up at the Ice Bar in Paris. The cigar was a rollercoaster of amazing sweet spices, I had to pass it around to some other friends to make sure that I wasn't imagining things. I've been chasing that stick forever, never had one that came even close to that first one

Worst thing is, it came with a sampler so I have no idea what year it was from.

Close runner-up was a Montecristo 4 Reserva, the creamiest smoke I've ever had the pleasure of lighting up.

Montecristo #2,no idea of the age on it as it was bought as a single from a well known UK vendor whilst I was still experimenting.It was a sublime experience.I remember chocolate,vanilla and just this incredible sweetness the whole way down.And in between puffs I remember rolling the cigar under my nose,savouring the aroma.It made me think of the finest ice cream you could possibly imagine.Sadly,I've yet to find the same experience anywhere else although the first from my Czar box of Upmann #2's the other week was not far from it.

I agree. I think we have seen a little resurgance of this botique era with the Tats, Illusione, and Pepin, etc. coming out.

To further your point I hear the Pepin rolled sticks really got an increase in quality after he moved operations to Nic.

Funny we should be discussing this, I just missed some Bahia at OLH. I think I'm the backup if the orginal transaction falls through. If I score them I send you a few sticks.

Trinidad Robusto T... When I smoked this cigar for the first time I about pooped myself! Fantastic flavor, extremely great construction, and always very consistent

For me it was 2 year old Genios. I love the chocolate and coco. At the time it was a very extravagant purchase of a 10 ct box. I've had some fresher ones that just didn't hit the mark - I've since been told to not touch them without at least a year of age on them. I still have half that original 07 box (fire one up on each birthday) and my cigar budget has increased to alow a couple of 2010 boxes sitting in the back of the humidor.

It was my first RASS that I bought a couple of years ago as a single so I don't know the box code. It sat in my first little make-shift humidor for a long while as I was afraid to smoke it, I'd heard that they could be quite strong. When I got around to firing it up one sunny afternoon with a cold beer it was a revelation, like smoking a stick of chilli chocolate while sniffing some fresh leather.... ah I can still taste it now! RASS are still a favourite of mine and although I try to mix up my collection as much as possible they will always be in the line up.

For me this was a Partagas SDC#1. I remember heading out with a travel case full prepared for a long evening and after Chuck handed me this one it was all I needed for the evening. I know it had a bit of age on it but don't quite remember how long. It was very dark and oily. I said over and over "how am I getting these flavors from a cigar?" It was sea salt, dark chocolate, pepper, a variety of sweet and strong spices. The draw was a tad firm but provided just the right amount of smoke. 2 hours later I was holding up my ride while I stood in the parking garage refusing to put this cigar down until I could smoke it no more. Yeah, that was definitely the cigar that did it for me.

For me, it was a La Flor Dominican Ligero. I was told they were very, very strong, and was given one as a birthday present a few years back after I had started smoking cigars (lots of cheap bad ones).

It was nothing short of amazing to me. Tremendous flavors and complexity and the sweetest finish after every puff. It was the first cigar that I took to the nub and was disappointed when I couldn't go further.

La Flors are still one of my favorites - the strength of the Ligeros is over stated(to me anyway). I just love the complexity of the cigar.

For cubans, it was my first Monte #2. It was sublime and has led me down this dark and twisted road to places like FOH!

I really enjoy LFD. Have you ever had a chance to try the LFD Litto Gomez Small Batch series? I just had one last night from Series #3. It was INCREDIBLE. So Complex, so powerful, but with grace. I heard (dont know if this is true) that they only made 100,000 sticks. And that only 60,000 sticks went to the USA. I have five more sticks in my humidor. It was a Cohiba Maduro Magico '07 while on my honeymoon. I then understood the magic of Cuban cigars and I've never looked back.

For me it was a H Upmann petit corona my brother brought back from Panama. So complex and my first experience with that salty flavor which I enjoyed so much. Seriously cried when it went out. Just kept staring at it asking myself how is it possible to pack so many different flavors in this little smoke.

Romeo y Julieta Churchill. Gave it to my dad for his 50th and then generously helped him smoke it and drink a vintage port, out under the stars on a warm summers night... despite all the good vibes, the cigar still stood out as an event of its own.
