redlir Posted May 3, 2011 Posted May 3, 2011 As I smoke more and more cubans, I'm coming to realize I really like powerful full bodied cigars. When you want something that 'registers on the palette', is full of flavor and lets you know who's in charge... what are you reaching for?
zathan Posted May 3, 2011 Posted May 3, 2011 My preferences are changing as well. I started smoking mostly the lighter cigars. Some with no ligero at all. Now I find myself enjoying more and more the cigars that do contain ligero. And it seems like those are the ones getting much better with time.
LeafLover Posted May 3, 2011 Posted May 3, 2011 I've completely gone the other way in my journey. Full flavor > Full body.
shrink Posted May 3, 2011 Posted May 3, 2011 partagas 898. The man knows his cigars. Partagas 898 indeed!
redlir Posted May 3, 2011 Author Posted May 3, 2011 The man knows his cigars. Partagas 898 indeed! These are one I have not tried yet, but, I do have a box on the way from the Czar... looking forward to trying this one based on previous comments.
LowKey Posted May 3, 2011 Posted May 3, 2011 Bolivar corona extra may deliver what youre looking for.
bassman Posted May 3, 2011 Posted May 3, 2011 Partagas Lonsdales & Bolivar Coronas Extra. And surprisingly, the HQ & PSP Montecristo #4s are very full bodied.
redlir Posted May 3, 2011 Author Posted May 3, 2011 Partagas Lonsdales & Bolivar Coronas Extra. And surprisingly, the HQ & PSP Montecristo #4s are very full bodied. I definitely agree with the Monte 4's. Even the Monte 2's I've tried follow suit. Medium in the first third, but then escalate quickly as you get deeper into the second. I'm thinking of trying out some R&J Cazadores as well. I just watched the review on youtube.. lol so funny how bster get himself stoked up for it with a twinge of nervousness.
ksblazer Posted May 3, 2011 Posted May 3, 2011 Besides what's already been mentioned I like the Party Shorts and Boli CJ's for a quick blast of full Cuban flavor.
thechenman Posted May 3, 2011 Posted May 3, 2011 If you want to reach for a strong and full bodied smoke each and every time...then the RyJ Cazadores will not disappoint you.
laficion Posted May 3, 2011 Posted May 3, 2011 Bolivar corona extra may deliver what youre looking for. I'm sure that it will, great full bodied cigar that also has loads of complex tastes. look no further, you'll love them.

SCgarman Posted May 3, 2011 Posted May 3, 2011 Vegas Robaina Famosos are a very full flavoured stick-leaves a long finish on the palate.
Van55 Posted May 3, 2011 Posted May 3, 2011 While I concur with the BCE recommendation, I fen the Boli Corona Gigante even more consistently satisfying when I want a full bodied, full flavored cigar. Takes closer to 90 minutes to smoke compares to BCE 60 minute more or less.
Professor Twain Posted May 3, 2011 Posted May 3, 2011 Partagas connie 3 and Bolivar pc I agree completely, and would add the Partagas Short, a firecracker of a cigar. I only have a half box of the Con #3s left and I can't bear to finish them off, would love to find more.
bassman Posted May 3, 2011 Posted May 3, 2011 A few follow up points. I agree with Van the the Boli CG is an excellent cigar. Been enjoying 97s & 06s lately. They take an inch or two to get full bodied, while the BCE seems to be more in your face from the start. As for the RyJ Cazadores, they are the strongest CC currently in regular production, but to me lack complexity. Great cigar to smoke while taking a long walk.

I liked the box of Boli PC's I had, but I didn't find them to be strong enough at the time.. great with coffee though that one. Sounds like the BCE may be something I'll enjoy. As for the Cazadores... I just have to try it to see what the edge of the cliff looks like...
frenchkiwi Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 And surprisingly, the HQ & PSP Montecristo #4s are very full bodied. interesting you say this. i had a monte#4 from an 09 box the other day and they definitely tilted towards full body. Meaty and leathery as well as usual cocoa etc flavours, much like some monte #2s... screaming out Age Me, Age Me! (i rarely listen) Many smaller cigars are fuller in body - e.g. i have some '08 Reyes, Punch RS#12, and bolivar PCs As for other "Big" cigars, Bolivar CE, RyJ Cazadores, and other usual suspects mentioned here. I have never had a really full-bodied Partagas - including the 898s and PSD4s i have that are only on the fuller side of medium-body - but then again i have yet to open my first box of Shorts so what do i know. some of the nicaraguans are outrageously full bodied ...

I agree on your RS#12 points... ironically that was one of the first cuban's I ever tried... loved them.. and of course.. they got the axe lol. In regards to Partagas, the ones I have had ( including a box of shorts ) were only medium at best. I think the shorts just needed a tad more time because there were a few in the box that gave you that grin. I've had a box of P2's D4's and shorts.. admittedly I smoked them young and they did taste great anyhow. Hoping for more from the 898 after hearing more about them and watching Rob have an affair with one on youtube. The local Thomas Hinds Nicaraguan blend I get here is nice and full body.. but it has that twinge of non cuban I can't get past on a regular basis. Still fairly enjoyable though and can be had for a much cheaper price than cubans locally for obvious reasons.
redlir Posted May 6, 2011 Author Posted May 6, 2011 Had a chance to try an OCT 09 Cazadores today. What a monster... definitely need to get a box of these in the humi!
shrink Posted May 7, 2011 Posted May 7, 2011 Without a douby, Partagas 898...never fails! But when available, you prefer the doobie?
