For those who have known me for some years here on the forum, know that I truly enjoy living in my small town village of Calvisson , way down below, here in the south of France. ;)

I also like to update some of the events that happens in and around this small town and I will admit, events are quite often. :)

Today , since spring is here, we held our annual flower market in the center of town. All of the flowers and production comes from local producers.

A great moment to see lots of friends and also have a drink or two at the local cafe while smoking a fine RA Superiores LCDH, which by the way, was truly divine. B) yummmmy !!

The main thing however was to see with what flowers or plants or trees we would be decorating our gardens, courtyards, windows or terraces this spring.

With this in mind, my wife monique and I picked out a few plants and flowers to dress up our courtyard and then settled at the cafe for a refreshing drink.

Here ar a few pics of the flower market this morning which was held in the center of the village and really brightened up the square indeed.

Such a good advertisement for small town French life Guy. My inlaws live near Lamballe in Brittany and there are many similarities though the weather is not so good as what you enjoy! The culture, art and architecture that you have access to all the time is to be envied.

Wow, thanks for sharing Guy - and worth sharing it was. A little different than heading to the hardware store for flowers and planters, made in China of course. Wish I could have been there, looks like somewhere I would enjoy.

Hi Dbone,

Well, don't think that here in France and mostly in the big cities, that things are any different.

France also imports from China but mainly , the biggest exporter of flowers and plants in Europe,

is Holland.

This is why supporting our local producers is important but also it gives them the opportunity to

expand in their regions and for us, to get to know them and to understand a little, the work behind

their trade, and at the same time, sharing a beautiful day together. :D

Great shots Guy. It must be nice to live in a small town surrounded by greenery. Recently, I spent a week up in Northern Italy with my uncle and just fell in love with the lifestyle. Unfortunately, I'll have to work another 10 years or so to afford the transition! :D

Guy, what beautiful and brilliant sunshine you have in Calvisson. I sincerely hope to someday see your part of France. My first awareness of it came via Alistair MacLean's novel Caravan to Vaccares. I was a young boy then, but the images he generated in my mind have remained. Thank you for sharing.
