Tarks Posted March 27, 2011 Posted March 27, 2011 Just wondering what everyone's experiences are on this topic. I am talking all around...appearance, construction, draw and flavor. For me, it is the Esplendido.
cigcars Posted March 27, 2011 Posted March 27, 2011 Most Partagas. With the exception of the Partagas Serie P, I've never been disappointed with the regular production Party's.
mm12 Posted March 28, 2011 Posted March 28, 2011 cohiba VIs are fantastic right now... I think that's kind of the opposite of consistent. I don't think any Cohibas would rank rank anywhere near the top of my list. Way too many mediocre to bad boxes can pop up. I agree that Partagas is a very consistent marca overall. I think Diplomaticos and Vegas Robaina are very good in this regard also. I can't think of any particular cigar that I think is more consistent than any other, but with those 3 marcas I generally have a pretty good idea what I'm going to be getting before I light up or even break the seal on a box.

I agree with you on the entire Cohiba marca, with the exception of the Espy. Every single one I have smoked has been exactly what I expect. Perfection!
capecc Posted March 28, 2011 Posted March 28, 2011 Trinidad Reyes, they are most consistent for me, and quickly becoming my favorite 1/2 hr smoke.
LowKey Posted March 28, 2011 Posted March 28, 2011 The Bolivar line should not be over looked. consistant all around...appearance, construction, draw and flavor. Always a safe buy imho.
CohibaBehike Posted March 28, 2011 Posted March 28, 2011 I've seen great consistency with Trinidad, I'd be interested to see what El Pres says considering he's sniffed through more boxes than probably all of us
maverickdrinker Posted March 28, 2011 Posted March 28, 2011 I have to respectfully disagree. I haven't had a poor Siglo VI yet. Construction has been brilliant and the cigars have been a joy to smoke.
headstand Posted March 28, 2011 Posted March 28, 2011 The Bolivar line should not be over looked. consistant all around...appearance, construction, draw and flavor. Always a safe buy imho. Agree. It the anchor to the whole CC ship. OK, maybe I over did it there... It's just that I'm a fan.
dicko Posted March 28, 2011 Posted March 28, 2011 Agree. It the anchor to the whole CC ship. OK, maybe I over did it there... It's just that I'm a fan. me three. Had maybe one or two bad ones, a few average but on the whole great-excellent. Cohiba, I have found either excellent (90+) or pitch-worthy. Partagas is pretty consistent imo too.
Montaigut Posted March 28, 2011 Posted March 28, 2011 Most Partagas. With the exception of the Partagas Serie P, I've never been disappointed with the regular production Party's. +1 And I would add the Upmann not too far behind...
mazolaman Posted March 28, 2011 Posted March 28, 2011 Agree with the Bolivar...never had a bad box,also Diplomaticos.particularly the now deceased no4.
Matt Day Posted March 28, 2011 Posted March 28, 2011 agreed with boli and party had very few bad ones compared to the good
ramon_cojones Posted March 28, 2011 Posted March 28, 2011 I stopped smoking d4s because the inconsistency was surreal.
thechenman Posted March 28, 2011 Posted March 28, 2011 To be perfectly honest with you...I don't think that there is a Cuban marca that has consistent regular production smokes, at least how I definie consistent. If I had to select one though, it would be Trinidad...excluding the Fundadores.
ksblazer Posted March 28, 2011 Posted March 28, 2011 I've found the Bolivar Corona JR's to be very consistant I''d also say that the LGC MdO No.4's are as well.

earthson Posted March 29, 2011 Posted March 29, 2011 Gotta say the H Upmann Magnum 50s. I've had the wrapper split, tear, and then flair out - usually a sure sign that the cigar is out for the count. But the burn kept on even and the cigar picked up fine after getting past the wrapper tear. Superb. Great density, too.
CanuckSARTech Posted March 29, 2011 Posted March 29, 2011 For me, the most consistent I'd have to say is the Trini Robustos T. Although, with only 1 1/2 years of production, it may still be a bit too early to make a decision there. But, H S.A. have screwed up things worse in less time, so the T's may be good to go. But, a lot of great mentions on here. I'd have to say that for the most consistent, I'd say Trini T's, Dip 4's, and the LGC MdO No. 1's, in that order, most consistent on down. For least consistent, I'd say Monte 4's (sadly), CoRo's, and most of the recent R&J stock.
coneatty Posted March 29, 2011 Posted March 29, 2011 I've had great luck with the Bolivar PCs. And the more recent Party Shorts have been unreal. The few older ones I've had that were plugged (mostly08s...that's old for me) were easily remedied with a 1/16 drill bit and a simple plug-ectomy.
Smallclub Posted March 29, 2011 Posted March 29, 2011 From what frequency of buying and tasting a smoker is able to judge the consistency of one production? This should be established first…
