jerseyjay Posted February 13, 2011 Posted February 13, 2011 Another delicious & nutritious stick from Pete's 'Monster Series' collection - The Face. Although most if not all will select Frank or Boris over Face, I found San Andreas Mexican wrapper interesting and very good. In addition, although I'm not a big fan of 54+ ring-gages, overall experience made me forget that I was smoking a 'monster.' Enjoy couple pre-light photographs: Construction > Great Burn > Great Enjoy > Yes Recommend > Absolutely ! Buy > Box worthy
laficion Posted February 13, 2011 Posted February 13, 2011 I love Pete, he's a great guy, we have a good contact together, but what I love about him is that he loves Cuban cigars and spends all his money on Bordeaux wines. A guy like that can't be all that bad.
PLUSH Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 Not as good as The Frank or the Boris, IMO. But not as bad as the Drac.
mykeuva Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 Not as good as The Frank or the Boris, IMO. But not as bad as the Drac. I agree with this, although I've only tried 1 of the face in the box that I got. I thought it was pretty good. The Frank I thought was outstanding, only had a few of them, but each one was unbelievable. The Drac was a huge disappointment.
cigcars Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 *That box makes me think of the graffitti art & wall drawings in, "Orphan."
tsolomon Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 I have a fiver of these but I haven't smoked one yet. I'll admit to being a Tat *****, but I like to rest most of his special stuff for a couple of months before smoking. Bought a box of the Anarchy and should have a box of the black petite lanceros by the end of the week.

Just in the last few months: - Anarchy - The Face - Black Petitie Lanceros - 109 Rosado Federal's 90th (available today) - CMF5s (24FEB) Can't keep up
jsd Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 I only smoked one Face and thought it was very good. Didn't smoke any of the other monster series. Definitely a fan of the regular browns. The new 7th Reserva is fantastic. He also did a special release brown called Cohete for a local shop. Petite Robustos that were great.

Since I was able to get a box of Franks when they came out, I always try to get a couple of the new monsters when they come out to put down for awhile.
Puros Y Vino Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 Very rustic looking cigars. What's with the band? Is that a blank band or a piece of pale tobacco wrapped around?
Habanakane21 Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 Very rustic looking cigars. What's with the band? Is that a blank band or a piece of pale tobacco wrapped around? It's a different color wrapper. For looks I guess. I bought a box in October and have smoked 1/2. Pretty decent cigar. Would have rather spent the money on CC's instead.
Charltonc Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 I have one aging. I would not go looking for it, nothing that rocks your world.
Erm310mce Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 On the rare occasion that I grab a NC, it is a Tat. Recently, they haven't been doing much for me. I had a black tubo over the weekend and I tossed it after about an inch. It was very bland. I've had some good ones, so this must of been a dud. I grabbed a VR Unicos after and everything was alright in the world again One that really has been consistent for me is the J21 reserva, robusto sized reserve brown label. Those that I have had have been very good, but as said before, Tats are pricey. If you are a Tat fan it is a lot of effort keeping up with all the limiteds and they sell out so quickly, lots of hype around Pete's cigars.
jimjim Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 I haven't had any of the other monster series but these are really really good.
Guest rob Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 Are Tatuaje cigars available outside the US? Ive been to 3 continents and never seen them.
ajgagnon Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 Damn, those look good. I've never come across any Tatuaje in person either. Sam Leccia must have shown him that trick with the tobacco bands. Too cool.
jsd Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 Are Tatuaje cigars available outside the US?Ive been to 3 continents and never seen them. I believe they are available in parts of Europe. Wish I could tell you where exactly.
Stalebread Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 Are Tatuaje cigars available outside the US?Ive been to 3 continents and never seen them. Germany for sure. And I think I've seen them here in Paris.
Kangaroo495 Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 They're certainly not in Russia. We just got the Opus X here not long ago. Severely lagging behind. Would love to try one of these though.
Firewiz25 Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 Tatuaje Monster series have been hit or miss IMO. The Frank and The Face were very tasty but The Drac was way off the mark. The new Tatuaje Petie Cazadores have been excellent, very strong and spicy.

Dropped into a local B&M and needed a quick smoke while the wife was shopping. After smoking one I bought a box before leaving the shop.
jerseyjay Posted February 18, 2011 Author Posted February 18, 2011 It is amazing that lot of folks in US lust anything that smells or looks like CC where lots of folks outside of US are very much interested in boutique type cigars from Nica / DR / Honduras / Brazil / CR, etc. I guess what is not available, looks or sounds 'better.' I have the following on the way: - Black Petitie Lanceros - 109 Rosado Federal's 90th (available today) - CMF5s (24FEB)
