Ken Gargett Posted September 20, 2010 Posted September 20, 2010 dread to think what you cut out. no wonder he is hiding in a tent near whoop whoop.
laficion Posted September 20, 2010 Posted September 20, 2010 Fine review guys but as smithy sensed, these are not even close to what a RG should be. I'm a heavy lover of Corona Gorda's but as such, I'll never take the chance on ANY CG's from 2000,01,02, 05 or 07, For me, they were in general, very bad years for my favorite vitolas. However, If you find some 06's , go for them, beautiful year for the Corona Gorda's. Thanks for trying anyway guys
Leftridge Posted September 20, 2010 Posted September 20, 2010 Crap, that was a funny review.. The best part was Smithy " I can't help but wonder if that breadyness would have developed if I had not have cut it".. Very nice reply I might say!
PigFish Posted September 20, 2010 Posted September 20, 2010 Sorry you got bad cigars mate, perhaps you should not store them in the woodshed next to the varnish. -Piggy
Jimmy2 Posted September 20, 2010 Posted September 20, 2010 Great review !!!! And yes 2001 was crap !!
asmith Posted September 20, 2010 Author Posted September 20, 2010 dread to think what you cut out. no wonder he is hiding in a tent near whoop whoop. The rants he had about construction, flavour, tobacco production, how he would coach the Tamper Bay Bucks, what he would have done with the 2001 tobacco crop, how he can't pronounce reciprocal correctly, that spaghetti on toast is better the next day, that Daryl Hall was carrying John Oates on their Private Eyes LP, it just went on and on.
Wicky Posted September 20, 2010 Posted September 20, 2010 One of the best reviews yet! Just cut the Goddamned thing Smithy!
BradNC Posted September 20, 2010 Posted September 20, 2010 I dare say that I would enjoy watching this too.
First Lady Posted September 20, 2010 Posted September 20, 2010 Go ooooo man trust me what Smithy cut out was more interesting than the cigar LOLOL
asmith Posted September 20, 2010 Author Posted September 20, 2010 Go ooooo man trust me what Smithy cut out was more interesting than the cigar LOLOL You are correct Lisa, but some of what he said is quite incriminating and had I published it Rob may have found himself locked up in a South American prison. Just a second.....
BradNC Posted September 20, 2010 Posted September 20, 2010 Go ooooo man trust me what Smithy cut out was more interesting than the cigar LOLOL If Rob has internet access where he is we should all start sending him messages via the forum saying only "oooowoo ooooooo" and see if he picks up on it.
rckymtn22 Posted September 21, 2010 Posted September 21, 2010 Go ooooo man trust me what Smithy cut out was more interesting than the cigar LOLOL Sounds like another Rob's greatest hits outtakes video needs to be put together!
TrickNick Posted September 21, 2010 Posted September 21, 2010 I have had some good 2001 sticks, but not the RG CE. Thanks for the review guys. On another note, if you can find a 98 RG CE, you will be in for a pleasant surprise as these sticks are creamy, complex, and enjoyable.
scottkenda Posted September 21, 2010 Posted September 21, 2010 Rob was in fine form unlike the cigar I love watching your reviews, there so funny. This last one on the RG, I just laught. You always make me feel like your having a good time, and that's what smoking a cigar with friends is all about. I wish I didn't live have a world away. Cheers. Scott
CanuckSARTech Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 Well done fellas. Brendan shows up in stellar form again - the side-shot faces were classic, man! Finally - someone upstages El Prez!!! Regarding the cigar - I just find that there's a reason that some of these fringe brands and vitollas are just that; because they're filth. Why would I pick this, when there's Monte 4's or CoRo's or other much more interesting cigars to enjoy?!?! Yes, I realize that there are diamonds to be found in the rough. But a lot of these lesser/fringe marcas have waaaaaay more duds than studs. And, the Czar deck - what happened to the Big Stinky ashtray??
mbrody Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 THanks for the review fellas. I just lit a single up from one of the mix/match. Can't really put a finger on it yet...but it's not bad!

Please tell me that you are not referring to Ramon Allones, Por Larranaga, La Gloria Cubana, or Diplomaticos with that bold statement! RGCE can be fantastic. Gotta find the right box.
PigFish Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 Lol. Please tell me that you are not referring to Ramon Allones, Por Larranaga, La Gloria Cubana, or Diplomaticos with that bold statement!RGCE can be fantastic. Gotta find the right box. Mate... we have some core differences but there are times when our paths cross and this is one of them. As a guy who ostensibly blasts the entire EL program (me) and appears to condemn the cigars, really just the value of the cigars in the program, I was not gonna' be the guy to say it, but I am glad you did. I strongly disagree with Nutty's statement regarding lesser produced cigars. I actually believe in the contrary. I have smoked some fantastic cigars from many years including the turn of the century cigars. I have smoked good and bad cigars from many vintages, in many sizes and with a range of costs. Have I seen correlation to vintage and other factors on a quality smoking experience, sure I have? But if I were asked to rate a scale of outrageous statements regarding Cuban cigars I would have to say that, "lesser brands are filth," ranks with the most infamous! No offense Nut... we just strongly disagree here! -Piggy

Some of the lesser known brands have a great history, and it would be a dull old world if we all smoked one robusto or another. I also am not keen on the "lesser brands are filth" line. I'm off to find some Vegerous,to smoke while I read "The road to Wigan Pier".
DocG Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 I had a witty reply, but I can't top this stuff. I got nuthin! Funny Fricken review! Am I off the hook for getting all messed up on the wild turkey during my first review?

It is nice to find and share the common ground than to argue over the dividing fence, sometimes a little of both is healthy. I like my RG's... and Ayn Rand! -LOL Cheers mate! -Pigsy
PigFish Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 Please CST, can you expand on your statement, as a lot of us don't agree and would probably like to know why you think so called "Fringe Brands" are "filth". ... lets just tar and feather him instead!!!
