JasonInChiTown Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 There is no doubt about it...the Punch Royal Seleccion No. 11 is the best regular production corona gorda IMHO. It's cancellation/deletion is a travesty. Now that we have that out of the way...the best corona gorda in current production would be the Cohiba Siglo IV. I almost went with the H. Upmann Magnum 46, but the flavor profile of the Cohiba just nudged it up past the Mag 46. Completely agree with this entire statement
BobLobLaw Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 Once again my reading comprehension skills fail as I quickly vote for Mag 46 without looking at the rules. I have never had a Punch SS so can't comment there. The Sig IV I had was very nice. However, to throw in a curveball I am super excited about the RA corona gorda coming out this year.
MontrealRon Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 Mag 46 is like my wife; we may sometimes clash, but I know I can always depend on her. She is beautiful, faithful, and only gets better as time goes on. RG CE is like youth's first love; ever more radiant as she recedes in time. She was the first Cuban that totally captured my heart, and I have been chasing her reflections ever since.

I would have to say that the Ramon Allones Celestiales Finos is like my fiancee, at first she just kicked the crap out of me and still is, but I know in years to come she will ...still kick the crap out of me???
anacostiakat Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 Currently I am really split between the Boli CE, SLR Serie A and Mag 46. I like all 3 different styles.
bassman Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 I never even realized the BCE was a corona gorda. One of my favorite cigars period. I've got some stunning cabs from 02. After that, Siglo IV, SLR A & RyJ EX#3 all have multiple boxes in my humidors.
El Presidente Posted July 20, 2010 Author Posted July 20, 2010 For those having a crack at our top 12 selling cigars. it is fair to dsay that magnum 46 is on the list
SethLG Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 I hope it is on the list, if not I would be totally shocked.
Wicky Posted July 21, 2010 Posted July 21, 2010 I find the BCE and the HU46 both brilliant. Depends what time it is.
BonVivant Posted July 21, 2010 Posted July 21, 2010 ERDM Gran Corona, Upmann's Super Corona and Punch's SS No.2
Danashan Posted July 21, 2010 Posted July 21, 2010 Prez, can we expect a sampler of current production CGs? I'd be very interested as would many others who are new to CC as well, I'm sure.
Mr Peales Posted July 21, 2010 Posted July 21, 2010 The list is incomplete. Why in the hell doesn't Partagas make a corona gorda. Or Bolivar for that matter.
Mr.T Posted July 21, 2010 Posted July 21, 2010 I just had my first Magnum 46 the other night and it was very nice, but I really believe the Siglo IV is the best of them all! This is one thing I will be completely faithful to....and my wife
bigstone Posted July 21, 2010 Posted July 21, 2010 corona gorda is a great vitola, good compromise cepo/largo, my favorites are JL n°1, HdM n°1 and Punch RS n°11.
Tarks Posted July 22, 2010 Posted July 22, 2010 Toss up between the Hoyo and the Cohiba for me. If I had to choose I guess I would take the Hoyo...or maybe the Cohiba. No wait....yup the Cohiba!
AlexOk Posted July 22, 2010 Posted July 22, 2010 SLR A for me! I've got a heavenly Cab from 1/2007 and some singles from 2/2007 in my Humidor.
El Presidente Posted July 22, 2010 Author Posted July 22, 2010 In the end a clear winner Well done Mag 46 with over 25% of the vote. Quite a remarkable win for a cigar that was badly out of favour and sorts during 02-06.
Bartolomeo Posted July 23, 2010 Posted July 23, 2010 In the end a clear winnerWell done Mag 46 with over 25% of the vote. Quite a remarkable win for a cigar that was badly out of favour and sorts during 02-06. Dumb question, does that mean the production of the Mag 46 sucked during 02-06 years or have more people just discovered it more in the last couple of years? Thanks in advance, Bart
Disburden Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 with the Bolivar CE since it's the only Cuban Corona I have had yet!
Wicky Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 with the Bolivar CE since it's the only Cuban Corona I have had yet! The BCE has got to be my fav. over the Mag46. If you like a more rough and tumble cigar the Boli is about as good as it gets. Smoked 1 and 2 out of a LRE feb 09 box last night. Wow! what little power sticks! I'm guessing these would be F-ing incredible for years down the road. Too bad I'll never find out!
Habanakane21 Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 Once I get room in my cabinet...the 46's or next on my list! I have the SLR's and the Punch's all good ones.
Leopolis Semper Fidelis Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 I never even realized the BCE was a corona gorda. One of my favorite cigars period. I've got some stunning cabs from 02. After that, Siglo IV, SLR A & RyJ EX#3 all have multiple boxes in my humidors. If one wants to be pedantic, the Bolívar Corona Extra isn't really a Corona Gorda, but a Francisco.
Seriesteve Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 Bolivar Coro Xtra and the Mag 46 Had a couple of Cabs of the Boli and havent had a bad one out of them, Orange Marmalade, yum both 5/6 yrs on them before I was smoking them The Mag 46, again these had some age on them before being smoked, I havent smoked many from the last 2-3 yrs I'd like to think they were still a consistant. Ss
Leopolis Semper Fidelis Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 The Hoyo de Monterrey Epicure No. 1 is at the top of my list, followed by the Cohiba Siglo IV.
finecigar Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 Although I do think the quality is better in most ahead, I have great memories attached to the Siglo IV in life, so that is my vote. More of a personal thing.
