samb Posted October 18, 2009 Posted October 18, 2009 Well, I'm so thankful that I was led to this site by the ever generous smll2, who got me started on CCs in the first place, and I finally made my first purchase. Im looking forward to getting, in a few very long days, a Box of 10 Monte 4's Box of 10 RyJ Short Churchills and A 3 pack of HdM Epi 2's I cant wait for these smokes!!
aavkk Posted October 18, 2009 Posted October 18, 2009 congrats man, you will always remember your first boxes but I can tell that no matter how much you truly like/dislike them it is a very slippery slope. Try as many marcas and vitolas as possible before committing a lot of resources to one cigar no matter how good you think it is. I think I've been through about 5 or 6 "my new favorite cigars". good hunting!
Ellery Posted October 18, 2009 Posted October 18, 2009 Make sure you let them sit in the humi for 30 days or so. I know its hard, but Ive smoked them the moment I got them, and they didn't taste that great. After a month of them getting rehumidified, the difference is like night and day.

Buch0 Posted October 18, 2009 Posted October 18, 2009 The Monte 4's will be a treat after they have rested a month or so.. Also if you like them, try a box of Diplomaticos 2's next, I find these to be unbelievable cigars which are very underrated. Enjoy the purchase!!!
smll2 Posted October 18, 2009 Posted October 18, 2009 Hey Sam, With the First Lady and El Presidente and the rest of the lineup at FOH, you cannot go wrong. Like the brothers here say...let em rest a bit and enjoy. Be well grasshopper!!! Tom
thechenman Posted October 18, 2009 Posted October 18, 2009 Congrats on your first purchase from Czar....the first of many that will bring you to the brink of arguing with your spouse about why the hell you need so many damn cigars...LoL.
MIKA27 Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 Congrats on your first purchase from Czar....the first of many that will bring you to the brink of arguing with your spouse about why the hell you need so many damn cigars...LoL. Don't I know it.....
gfoster Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 The monte #4's are the only CC's I've smoked thus far, and I can say if you haven't tried them you are seriously in for a treat. I treated my brother -in-law to one for his 45th birthday this weekend and I'm almost out... my wife is overly generous with giving *my* sticks to her friends and family. Of course, she's sneaky and the way she does it is wait until we're all together and then she announces "<name> you like cigars, right? Gary has some cubans I'm sure he'd share with you, won't you honey?" leaving me to either look like an ass or end up watching my cigar supply dwindle. The flipside is that she can't complain when I buy more, as long as I don't get stupid about it Gonna have to make my first purchase here pretty soon too. Bought the monte's in the republic of canadia and I won't make that mistake a second time, lol. -- Gary F.
CIGARHead Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 Congrats on the first order. This may go against the grain, but smoke a few of them sum'******* when you get them! Once you build your collection it will be easier to "let em rest", but until then, there's no time like the present mate!

You're not alone, brother.
coocooforroo Posted October 20, 2009 Posted October 20, 2009 I placed an order about 5 minutes ago and I'm already looking out the window for the delivery person. Got the best of 2008 and a some Cohiba Siglio VI's.
audio1der Posted October 20, 2009 Posted October 20, 2009 Kiss your credit card willpower goodbye! We all talk about the slippery slpoe, but it is NOT a figment of our imagination, as you'll soon find out
Bossman333 Posted October 20, 2009 Posted October 20, 2009 Me too!!! I just orderd my first CC's. Man I can't wait but hell I have to! RomeoYJuliet, Partagas, Cohiba, and Monte 2.

Once you build your collection it will be easier to "let em rest", but until then, there's no time like the present mate! Its gonna be impossible not to smoke at least one of each when i get them... I may let them rest about a week or so to recover from the trip here, but I have to smoke some. The good news is i have a bunch of NC's to burn through while I let them get some age.
smk819 Posted October 20, 2009 Posted October 20, 2009 You will love the Epi #2, it is sweet as candy.
samb Posted October 31, 2009 Author Posted October 31, 2009 Well, I have received my first order... They look amazing, smell amazing, and for the first monte 4 smoked (i couldnt resist) taste amazing. Its gonna be tough to let them age a lil, but i should manage, lol. Thank you Rob and Lisa!!
thechenman Posted October 31, 2009 Posted October 31, 2009 Congrat samb. They are only going to get better.
Tampa1257 Posted October 31, 2009 Posted October 31, 2009 Baby Killer, when you smoke a cigar after it has been in your humidor a couple of months, you will be able to taste the difference in smoking one right off the truck, and one properly stored and allowed to stabilize from its trip. I know all too well that it is a matter of inventory. Once you build enough inventory, it will become easier to let new arrivals rest 60-90-120 days before you crack open the new box and smoke the first one. I received a box today from Lisa and I opened it up, took a look at the cigars and then placed it in my humidor, the next time they will be looked at is for the annual inspection. The first cigar from this box will be smoked on New Years Eve 2014, thats 5 years from now. Will power and Inventory, build both, buy more cigars and increase your Credit Card Limits LMAO, you are going to need it!!!

Knowing its a mistake I still can hardly resist the, "off the truck tradition," they are after all my cigars... and inventory be damned! I have two weapons to guard against the evil trend. Take a lit cigar when going to the post! AND... order more than two boxes at a time; the dilemma may cause a nervous break down, but that be better than breakin' the virgin box! Congrats on your first purchase. Jesus... todays kids got it easy!!! -LOL -Piggy
habone Posted October 31, 2009 Posted October 31, 2009 Let the uncontrollable spending begin...its a sickness my friend that never goes away.
