El Presidente Posted October 14, 2009 Posted October 14, 2009 Dear FOH'ers It is with some regret that we are going to cull the Blind Tasting program in its current format. The bottom line is that while we have plenty of people who are purchasing the cigars, we don’t have as many posters giving us their thoughts/predictions as we need to make it interesting and a viable ongoing proposition. We are going to revamp the concept so that it has a real resonance and purpose. Our concept is to call for tasters each two months. Each taster will pay for the three cigars as occurs now but upon posting their results they will go into the draw from an ORIS Swiss Mechanical Watch that we will sponsor. All profits will go to the Nicaraguan Childrens Mission which I visited earlier this year and where Freefallguy and his inspirational team are doing some marvellous work. By November we will have a new section on the forum focused on the Nicaraguan Mission so members can keep up with what is going on and the good your dollars are doing. The profits from our FOH merchandise are designated for this program. The winner of the watch will be the person who posts the most correct “tastings” in that month. In the event of a draw in any given month we will put the entries into a hat and draw the winner. I think this format will achieve the objectives of maximum member participation, fun, education and help out a great cause at the same time. We will commence first week November. Best regards El Pres
Van55 Posted October 14, 2009 Posted October 14, 2009 Having openly criticized the lack of participation by those who obtained cigars for the recent iteration of the blind tasting challenge, I will volunteer to particpate in the new one.
thechenman Posted October 14, 2009 Posted October 14, 2009 I'm intrigued and look forward to particpating in this event...and not just for the chance to win a nice Oris watch...
PigFish Posted October 14, 2009 Posted October 14, 2009 I might consider playing depending on the cost. I am watching my pennies pretty close these days. It might be fun to openly humiliate myself here beyond what I normally do here on a daily basis. -Piggy
maalouly Posted October 15, 2009 Posted October 15, 2009 I am in for such a great cause. Piggy I will be way before you, humilating myself with my predictions
Tampa1257 Posted October 15, 2009 Posted October 15, 2009 Please consider me as one of your meager members that will openly humiliate myself with the new program.
sepp Posted October 15, 2009 Posted October 15, 2009 Humilitation is my middle name as I prove it every time I open my mouth, would love to try and be one of the guinea pigs... No offense Piggy!
olotti Posted October 16, 2009 Posted October 16, 2009 I'll do it. I' still a relative newb (5yrs) of smoking habanos but I would love the opportunity to be a part of this wonderful cause. Prez let me know.
Mr. Japan Posted October 16, 2009 Posted October 16, 2009 I woul dlike to getr in, but I need updates by mail .Anyhow well done.
Guest rob Posted October 16, 2009 Posted October 16, 2009 I hope I dont let anyone down.. count me in!
Kangaroo495 Posted October 16, 2009 Posted October 16, 2009 I'm definitely in for this. Think I'm gonna order a bunch of singles next month including RyJ, PL, JLP, ERDM, San Cristobal, LGC and Trinidad - cigars which I really have no idea about... that should bring me up to speed.
Kangaroo495 Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 How's this coming along? How can we be a part of it?
cigaraholic Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 This sounds like a nice way not to give all my $$ to the Swiss.
El Presidente Posted November 11, 2009 Author Posted November 11, 2009 Rob (Freefallguy) only left here yesterday. We have worked through the detail and will have the first tasting up and running sometime next week. I am looking forward to it
ChanceSchmerr Posted November 12, 2009 Posted November 12, 2009 I REALLY want to do this but I need more experience! I will start entering these in a year or so, once I've actually tried enough cigars not to embarrass myself too hilariously.
thechenman Posted November 13, 2009 Posted November 13, 2009 I'm up for embarassing myself...looking forward to starting as soon as possible.
PADDYWHACK121272 Posted November 16, 2009 Posted November 16, 2009 Would love to do this - nice excuse to take time and concentrate on a cigar if you know you have to review it.....
