sounddust Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 My guy at the local LCDH has confirmed that the Boli Immensas and Bonitas, Punch Coronas; as well as the Hoyo du Roi are officially extinct. Any word on the rest as mentioned on Trevor's site, Prez and fellow members? I'm most concerned about the BCEs and Punch SS No.1s.
Tampa1257 Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 The Bolivar Inmensa is going to be sorely missed.
jwm8592 Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 I know I will miss the Inmensas, holy crap . Rob, did you or are you going to be receiving any more stock of these or is it over??
El Presidente Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 My guy at the local LCDH has confirmed that the Boli Immensas and Bonitas, Punch Coronas; as well as the Hoyo du Roi are officially extinct. Any word on the rest as mentioned Trevor's site, Prez and fellow members? I'm most concerned about the BCEs and Punch SS No.1s. I will go over the confirmed list in the next week. We are seeking to order whatever we can on the list so I want to keep it close to the chest until our order is confirmed. Mistakes are being made. We have very passionate people fighting the good fight within Habanos so all hope is not lost for a rebirth of some of these down the track. There are two dilineated lines within Habanos.... "The Good side and the Dark". Rebel forces are building and are becoming organized. Darth Vader and the empire hold all the current cards
sounddust Posted March 5, 2009 Author Posted March 5, 2009 Damn Jedi Knights and their mind control... SNAP OUT OF IT PREZ!!!
Tampa1257 Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 May the Force be with us, the "Good Side"....................
jwm8592 Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 Well tell Smithy to get his damn uniform on and get the hell down there to lead the charge, and take Ken w/him.
Jimmy2 Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 Out of all of them why the Bolivar CE ? the perfect size for a everyday smoke so rich and balanced just nuts just reduce production on this and the others. Also the Punch SS1 what a power house of old school Cuban flavor please put this blend in a Corona Gorda size if it must go or just keep it around a little longer. Both of these i will miss dearly what a bad time to get laid off wont be able to stock up on them now .

However, as these are 2 of my favorite cigars; I think I will be getting 2 cabinets of 50 if they really are on the hit list. Food, liquor and rent be damned.
shrink Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 I have always thought that if they put the Boli Inmensas in an 8-9-8 format in the varnished box, it would never be cut. But that's what I thought about the Ramon Allones 8-9-8 Varnished, too; and lived to see it die. I love everything about the 8-9-8 presentation. As for the Boli CE and the Super Selection No. 1... discontinuing these is on a par with axing the Partagas lonsdale. A crime against humanity.

Yeah, it seems that more and more lonsdale-like sizes will be gone soon... I understand that robustos and other thai-hookers of a cigars are the vogue now, but how about the aficionados who appreciate the elegant pleasure of a cigar that doesn't make you feel like you are putting a toilet roll in your mouth? Damn those stubby ass releases.
kjellfrick Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 I'm eagerly awaiting more info on this, Rob. I may not be strong with the Force but I'm joining the side of the good guys in this. I totally agree with what Shrink says above concerning the Punch SS#1 and Bolivar CE... what in hell are they thinking?
jdbrown Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 I may be in the minority here...but I think the Punch SS1 is the best current production smoke on the market. Rich, strong, flavourful and complex. What else could I ask for in a cigar?
Padrino Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 There are two dilineated lines within Habanos.... "The Good side and the Dark". Rob, what would be the ultimate goal or "grand plan" of the darker side currently running Habanos SA ??
sounddust Posted March 5, 2009 Author Posted March 5, 2009 Rob, what would be the ultimate goal or "grand plan" of the darker side currently running Habanos SA ?? To make CCs fashionable.
Colt45 Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 As Rob has stated a number of times in the past, they'll produce what sells, and discontinue what doesn't. As long as we continue to buy boli fat boys, monte donkey dongs, cohiba drain pipes and the like, and leave lonsdale like cigars sitting on the shelves, this is what will continue to happen. Our actions ($$) speak louder than words.

Our actions ($$) speak louder than words. I hear ya Colt! I agree with everything you just said. Unfortunately I am only one man with a miniscule cigar budget- but rest assured I am doing everything I can to lead the way away from the above mentioned atrocities. I must confess though that I do on occasion crave a cohiba drain pipe (Piramide).
Colt45 Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 I must confess though that I do on occasion crave a cohiba drain pipe (Piramide). And nothing wrong with that - I was thinking sublimes / siglo VI (and if you like those, nothing wrong there either) I do believe that they'll produce what sells - my other commentary is fairly tongue in cheek.
broozer Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 There are two dilineated lines within Habanos.... PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE!!!!!!! tell me it's not my beloved sancho panzas!! if so i'm gonna have to personally go to cuba and kick someones ass. bruce
Wiley Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 This is making me ill... I need to go find some antacid!

Guest rob Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 Gotta agree with Colt here! I've been stocking up on bread and butter sizes because one day these will be a thing of the past. Our beloved 898's and Churchills may be gone forever. Sensationalist. I dont know. But I do know that the proof is in the pudding... and these lists of discontinued classic cigars keep getting longer.

Our actions ($$) speak louder than words. Tell us how you really feel, Colt... I certainly am not a fan of the Big Bertha cigars, but understand that there is a market for them. As you, Rob, Tampa and others have noted, we must vote with our wallets. Unfortunately, I am afraid we are not purchasing enough of our favorites to keep them around. I look at the explosion in the Big Bertha cigars and the LE/RE releases much the same as the bubble market in Internet Stocks in the '90's and the recent Real Estate craze of the new millennium. Eventually, the market will correct itself and find a happy medium... at least that is my hope.
broozer Posted March 6, 2009 Posted March 6, 2009 i would say that about 80%of my purchases are 44 RG and smaller, 10% 46-47 RG and the last 10% would be DC's, robustos and torpedos. so i'm doing my part the best i can. to date i have only bought ONE box of EL's and 3 boxes of RE's (1 PL lonsdales and 2 boxes of PL robustos). the ONLY other RE i want is the PL piramide, which hopefully i can order from rob in the coming months. bruce
