El Presidente Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 We will revisit a more recent example (07/08) shortly.
sounddust Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 Great work guys, the raw honesty and random chucking of cigars by the people who sell them is literally unheard of. That's like a teacher shooting a delinquent, mildly-retarded 3rd grader in the face with a shotgun for throwing chalk at his back. And that's why I buy my cigars from you lot.
yossie Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 So, Your review is worth watching my trustable bastard!
asmith Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 Gee we were brutally honest with that review. How are our sales going with our honesty?
El Presidente Posted January 29, 2009 Author Posted January 29, 2009 So, Your review is worth watching my trustable bastard! Not good Smithy.....not good. I shifted them next to the Cuaba's
shrink Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 I would suggest that you send the lot of 'em back to PCC to be included in their 2006 Vintage Cigar Programme to be released in 2012. They'll bring a fortune.
Guest rob Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 The most heinous thing about that review was seeing the sparkling wine being drunk out of a Reidel Shiraz glass.... Well done fellas taking one for the team.
Ken Gargett Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 We will revisit a more recent example (07/08) shortly. ] no we won't. not on my balcony anyway, unless there is a massive improvement. that embarassed my compost! i note smithy cut all the 'top gear' stuff - because we decided he was the james may of the team. that went straight to the cutting room floor. great fun.
Ginseng Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 A flagrantly good review! Shame to hear one of my old time stalwarts show so poorly. Guantanamera...ouch. Here's hoping the 08 will fare better. Wilkey
bassman Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 On the other hand, the 06 EX#3s are some of the best RyJs I've ever smoked.
olotti Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 These reviews are awesome, keep em comin fellas. I'm currently smoking through a box of JUN 04 RyJ Exh #4's that are really good. Nice notes of wood, floral and fruity flavors with a little charred wood at the tip, nice medium body smokes to bad the 06's aren't faring as well.
Colt45 Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 Thanks for the candid review. Poor Smithy......
chrisguinther Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 Thanks for the review. I've been smoking out of an 05 dress box that's been rather good. I'm sorry to hear these 06's are just plain bad. I'll have to try one out of an 00 cabinet to see how they fare.
FireDigger Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 On the other hand, the 06 EX#3s are some of the best RyJs I've ever smoked. Agreed. I liked the corona gorda a lot better than the robusto.
jwm8592 Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 Thanks for shooting from the hip on these reviews guys, at least it wasn't a total waste of an afternoon I see that you did finish off a few bottles of wine.
PigFish Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 You guys are killing me. Now I know what I must look like reviewing a cigar... albeit I don't have the Beevus and Butthead quaff. Yeah you would need a fisheye lens to get me all in the picture!!! I'll say it before you do!-LOL Your review sounds like what I consider a standard for the RyJ EX4. I have never hit it off with that cigar. On a more positive note may I suggest that you visit the Boli Royal Corona from 06. It is a stunning example of what a larger ring cigar should be. Cheers gents. -Piggy
Ginseng Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 On a more positive note may I suggest that you visit the Boli Royal Corona from 06. It is a stunning example of what a larger ring cigar should be. Cheers gents. -Piggy What would be the point? They're gone. They're all gone! Wilkey
PigFish Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 What would be the point? They're gone. They're all gone! Wilkey For nothing more than to pay homage to a wonderful cigar! These guys are lens junkies now! -Piggy
gehrig24 Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 Smithy, if you want some extra coin I suggest putting together a DVD of the "highlights" and selling it on the side.
aavkk Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 well that is a mirror image to my experience with this cigar in 3 or 4 different efforts. Thanks for keeping it real boys...
ARRV Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 Smithy - "All I do is cop **** for wookies and wiggles" Love it. PS - who was that man on your shirt
Ginseng Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 For nothing more than to pay homage to a wonderful cigar! These guys are lens junkies now! -Piggy I hear you. Yet another cigar in the "Had I known then what I know now, I would have filled a cooler with these" category. Love the new avatar. Wilkey
Ken Gargett Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 [ PS - who was that man on your shirt that is the wiggle. i think smithy calls him max or elvis or something.
Van55 Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 Can't watch the video here on the office computer, but I get the gist. Romeo Exh. #4 were one of my first two boxes of Cuban cigars ever. I remember being sorely disappointed at first blush. In fact, a Dominican RyJ Robusto that I smoked side by side with the Cuban one had much more character. Fact is, I took the box off my porch where it had sat in 90 degree (F) sun for half a day, ripped it open and immediately tried a cigar. HUGE mistake. Once the cigars had properly assimilated, they were better, but didn't sell me on the notion that Cuban cigars are all that. I finished off the box in time and never got another until I recently got a box of 06 (I think). I think I will watch this review at home this evening and then retrieve one of my own to see how my reaction compares to those of Gargett, Ayala and Smith.
