El Presidente Posted June 27, 2008 Posted June 27, 2008 Again yesterday I described a cigar as medium when someone else described it as Full. I am just looking for a gauge on the following. Please classify them as you see them and fit them into the Mild/Medium/Full category. Bolivar Royal Corona Cohiba Siglo 1 Cohiba Robusto El Rey Del Mundo Choix Supreme Montecristo No 2 Montecristo No 4 Partagas D 4 Ramon Allones Specially Selected R&J Short Churchill

Wiley Posted June 27, 2008 Posted June 27, 2008 I gave up on this whole thing a while back. There's only "great", "good", and "pitch it". And occasionally "head swimming and a little naseous".

I also think 06 blends tend more to the med/full in most brands that I have. I can't classify many as mild.
Lanthor Posted June 27, 2008 Posted June 27, 2008 My pallet is about as refined Tonya Harding, but here goes » Bolivar Royal Corona Full » » Cohiba Siglo 1?? » Cohiba Robusto Med » » El Rey Del Mundo Choix Supreme Med » » Montecristo No 2 Full » » Montecristo No 4 Med » » Partagas D 4 Med » » Ramon Allones Specially Selected Mild » » R&J Short Churchill ??
zuma Posted June 27, 2008 Posted June 27, 2008 What I have come expect from them: Bolivar Royal Corona - Med Cohiba Siglo 1 - Full Cohiba Robusto - Med El Rey Del Mundo Choix Supreme - Mild (pissweak, i'd say) Montecristo No 2 - Med Montecristo No 4 - Med->Full Partagas D 4 - Med-> Full Ramon Allones Specially Selected - Mild->Med R&J Short Churchill - Mild->Med
Stalebread Posted June 27, 2008 Posted June 27, 2008 » » . . . fit them into the Mild/Medium/Full category. » » body or flavor? Or strength? This is still confusing to me and I see it described differently from board-to-board and from smoker-to-smoker. At this point, it seems to me that strength = nicotine punch or bite, or lack thereof body = mouth feel of the smoke flavor = flavor (uh-oh, this looks like a thread jack. Ah well, my mind wanders a lot these days.)
tigger Posted June 27, 2008 Posted June 27, 2008 Edited upon Rob's clarification: Bolivar Royal Corona - Medium Cohiba Siglo 1 - Medium Cohiba Robusto - Medium to Full El Rey Del Mundo Choix Supreme - Mild Montecristo No 2 - Medium Montecristo No 4 - Medium Partagas D 4 - Full Ramon Allones Specially Selected - Medium to Full R&J Short Churchill - Medium
El Presidente Posted June 27, 2008 Author Posted June 27, 2008 My apologies. Caught up on other matters today which took me away from the deck for an uncomfortably long period of time ;-) The intent was when someone else says "Bolivar Royal Corona" ...what goes through your mind. I immediately think Medium body yet medium full flavour. So I am talking "Body" ...not that I explained it very well :-D
