harryleech Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 Hi All, I've been checking out the forum for a long time now and decided to get involved: Love the content here and the enthusiasm. I've been smoking cigars for a few years now and due to the smoking ban here and our terrible weather I probably smoke a lot less than I otherwise would: Maybe that's a good thing as I now have access to some cigars with a bit of age! Roll on summer... Harry
El Presidente Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 Welcome Harry! Feel at home here mate. Let us know what you have been enjoying.
brian1 Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 Hows it going Harry, There are a few of us Irish here. I am from Cork now living in the New York area and we have another Dub on the forum also. Brian
harryleech Posted June 5, 2008 Author Posted June 5, 2008 » Welcome Harry! » » Feel at home here mate. Let us know what you have been enjoying. Cheers Rob, I like your site a lot. What have I been enjoying recently? Hmmm... Big fan of the Bolivar RC as of late, as well as the Hoyo Escudos LE 2007. Both came back with me from my last trip to Cuba. Long time favourites are the Cohiba Esplendido, the Ramon Allones Specially Selected and the Partagas D4. That said, I'm not closed minded enough to not develop new favourites and enjoy trying as much and as many cigars as I can! H
toasterhead Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 Greetings Harry! When I was in Dublin in September 2006, I was able to smoke at the Morgan Hotel and at McGuire's Pub. The common feature seemed to be areas within the establishment walls, but with open sky above, which I guess counted as "outdoors". Was this a loophole and has it been since closed? Cheers, Dave

Ryan Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 Hi Harry, Good to see you here. I can vouch for Harry, he brings me back nice things from Cuba!:-)
Tampa1257 Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 Welcome to FOH Harry, you may find your cigar consumption increase the longer you hang around here, yet that is not such a bad thing mate! Have fun!!! Tampa
jb007 Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 hey mate, welcome to FoH, and yeah, as tampa said, these guys are addictive! haha, catch you round though =D

Unfortunately that fantastic establishment has since closed: It was a great place to have a pint of Guinness and a cigar (which with a Royal Corona is a great combination!) but it was sold for development. That said there are still quite a few areas like you describe in Dublin: Most are skirting very close to the edge of the law but seem to be tolerated. If you're back again I'll point you in the right direction! Cheers, Harry

Sounds like a plan, it's always good to have a cigar and a drink with someone who appreciates a good cigar. Let me know when you'll be around closer to the time. Where are you travelling from: US, Australia?

Roll on summer... » » Harry Hi Harry Another newbie here... My girlfriend grew up in Santry (Brookville Estates) and we come out there a few times a year to see her "mam" (now in a nursing home in Kilkenny.) We usually stay the first day/night in Dublin and visit with her brother before heading south. It'd be great to get together with someone and have a good cigar. I love her family dearly, but it'd be good to get away for a few hours. Would you be open to having a smoke and a pint? Mark
