Hoyo de Monterey - Churchill or Epi2?

Considering new purchase, and have tried neither. I am a big fan of the DC though. ANy comments? I find few reviews of the churchill.

The Epicure series are not only my favorite Hoyos, but are the only ones I smoke. They have much more spice, and body than the rest of the line.

You never hear much about the Hoyo Churchills. The only one I ever tried (about a decade ago) wasn't that good. Does anybody like these?

Agreed. Anyone who likes the HdM Double I would appreciate a comparison.

Try and grab a box of late `06 Epi 2`s . They are smoking great ROTT

I haven't had a churchill for some time. I found them to be too dry and woody for my taste.

It wouldn't hurt to get a few singles of each.

I have to agree. Fantastic turnaround for the Epi 2 from last quarter 06. Fuller, more flavoursome.

The 07 HDM DC are not as full as the late 06 and on Epi 2. Very good but certainly a tad milder.

They are my go to smoke at the minute, I bought 2 boxes 1 to smoke, 1 to age, got about 15 sticks left in the second box!!

Interesting opinions. I used to smoke these. Mostly from '04 and '05 stock. I smoked through them and simply stopped as I was unimpressed with the floral and mild (to me) flavor and body of the cigar.

I have only smoked a few HDM DCs and Churchills and all of them had some age on them and they were enjoyable.

I usually stick with the Le Hoyo line within the HDM brand.

Both - can't go wrong with either.

Try a couple singles from each, if you can get late `06 then I think you will be suprised. I tend to make my `06 Epi 2`s last a long time, they are that good I am not constantly puffing on them!! I probably take as long to smoke one as I would an aveage DC!!

Congrats on the choice. Let us know how they turn out.

Though for my own tastes I'd have gone with the Epi 2. I love their size and taste. Don't have as much time to typically smoke a churchill but a Robusto I can sneak in most days. They're great in either the morning or evening.
