Carlos, I've become a big fan of the Serie du Connaisseur No.3. I smoked an '06 today, and it was great.

Rich (and getting richer), with some sweet spice. They are nice now, but I feel they'll surely get better.

Many seem to feel the SduC 1&2 are also excellent.

shorts pleasant.

i do love the lusi's, especially with a little age.

rob will hate me saying this, as he likes to keep them all for himself, but the conn serie 3 are brillaint for a smaller smoke.

plenty more. i think partagas one of the truly great houses.

Another that members have been raving about as of late is the 8-9-8 varnished - a cigar I need to try myself.

posted my bit before i saw colt's so great minds. i know when we go to havana, you can often get older boxes so we just chip and buy 3 or 4 boxes and have them as the house smoke. go through them at a rate.

» PARTAGAS SHORTS any good?

Miami, I'm quite new but have discovered I really like most of the Partagas cigars I've tried, the exception being the D4 Robusto 3 pack I tried. I keep for special occations the 898's & Lusitania's and have gone through most of a box of Parti Shorts from Dec 05 and they have for my money all been great, with a full body in your face pepper and spice that for the size is a work of art, I have a box of Jan 07 which I hope is as good. I'm sure others on the site can offer suggestions based on a lot more experience, hope you give them a try.

898 varnished are the way to go you will not be disappointed as many here will agree.

I couldn't agree more. The 06's are unbelievably good. Strong, flavorful, and all round great.

Asking me about Partagás is like asking a Santa if he enjoys Christmas! I am a self professed Partagás *****! Big or small, I love them all! What it depends on is what you are searching for?

Partagás is a much fuller bodied and flavored cigars than what you have mentioned that you enjoy. It can be much more "In Your Face" and powerful. You should expect Bold, Earthy, Leathery, Sweet Peppery Spiciness among many other flavors, yet these in my opinion are what are known as "Classical" flavors of the Marca.

As I said, I love them all, but would have to say that the Shorts have been in a decline since 2005, so for a smaller cigar I would recommend the Serie du Connaisseur No. 3. Absolutely a cigar to fall in love with and always have in the humidor.

The PSD 4, the Robusto is a cigar in my opinion that needs to be smoked very young or with many years of age. I really enjoy them yet prefer them from a dress box and not from a vending pack (3 pack). Get a box for late spring of 2007 and let them rest 30-45 days and then smoke them down with your friends and family over the holidays!

Others have mentioned the 8-9-8 Varnished. This cigar along with the Serie du Connaisseur No.1 and No.2 are in my opinion "Classical" Partagás verging on what many consider "Old School" flavors. Rich in flavor and complex. These are all cigars that are mainstays in my humidor. (Did I mention that I was a Partagás *****?)

The Lusitanias are a delightful Double Corona to enjoy, yet they need in my opinion several years age before being ready to enjoy. The last really good one I smoked was a 97. I understand that the tobacco used in the 2006 and 2007 codes is excellent, yet they still need in my humble opinion 5 years before being ready to smoke. Are they worth the aging? Put some down for 5 years and taste for yourself, I think you will thank me!

Or asking me if I like sex!

Tampa is right, right, right again. But don't forget the P2 pyramides!

Some of my favorites Party Shorts, Lusi's, 898's and serie D #4. All are good can't go wrong with either one.

898V are my current favorites. I got a box of Coronas and a box of SDC#1s delivered a week ago that are still resting up from the trip. I don't think that there is a Partagas that I don't like although I was a little disapointed in my last box of Shorts. Note to self, remember to buy some series P #2s. I too am a Partagas *****.

Hey Tampa, just a question off of your post. With you being the Partagas "*****" and all, how long do you think the PSD 4's could sit and still be considered young? Maybe an easier way of asking is how fast should they be smoked before they need to go nite, nite for a while. I have 1 box from Oct 06, and 2 boxes from Nov 06. I did smoke a few from the Oct box when I rec'd them back in June they were very good then, but haven't had any since and none of the Nov 06. You may ask how I could abstain, I have so many NC to go thru in my humidor trying to make room for the real thing, if you know what I mean.

The Partagas Petit Corona's Especiales are a spicy powerhouse.

I like the SdC #3 also but have had quite a few tight ones in that layt box of 07 that Rob sent. Boy was I shocked and disapointed. PSP2?? OK for me but not the greatest. Try to find a box of the Coronas a buddy had some 06 or so that were very nice. Are these made in 07 or are they gone again? My 898 newest one are not ready for the fire yet. I love my Shorts.

They are out of production. But I think Lisa may have a box or 2 left.

Personal preference is always the best guide in my opinion, but I enjoy the PSD4's with less than a year of age on them. With the different tobacco being used these days, I can not really recommend any definite time period. You mentioned that you have Oct 06 that you are smoking now and Nov not touched yet, so I personally would deep sleep the Nov 06 for another year or two while smoking the Oct 06. If the Oct 06 begin to taste sort of off or out of kilter comparing to what they have tasted before, time to deep sleep them. I have found that PSD4's taste best between 6-9 months from box codes for my palate. For me, the PSD4 is one of the "Rule Breakers" when it comes to age. I enjoy them young.

The PSP 2 is a damn good Piramide one of my favorites and I should have mentioned them in my post above. A keeper for the humidor for sure!

May I suggest that you smoke more cigars to make room in the humidor, or buy a bigger humidor, or you can consider making a donation of the unwanted cigars and making room in the humidor for those that you really do want. Donate them to your guys at the fire department, or rescue squad or to those in the military fighting overseas.

I like the Connie 3 young as well but was looking for some with age. Any years that you could recommend from late 90's forward?

Thanks!
