shrink Posted August 27, 2007 Posted August 27, 2007 Rumours are rife that Fidels grand daughter came up ith the Vegueros logo utilising a spare 10 minutes before dinner one night. It certainly comes as no surprise that the designer was a woman. I am not going to say what this logo brings to mind...
El Presidente Posted August 27, 2007 Author Posted August 27, 2007 The old inkblot test hey Shrink I can just picture you....."so what is the first thing that comes to your mind?"

I had been wondering whether to get some stick to try out this marca, but I think I may have to skip it... any vitola in this marca that may deserve attention?
tigger Posted August 27, 2007 Posted August 27, 2007 » It certainly comes as no surprise that the designer was a woman. I am not going to say what this logo brings to mind... Replace the first "e" with an "a," and...well...never mind. :-P

I don't want to put the kybosh on them if you are finding something completely different. I have an aversion to certain types/characteristics of cigars even though others find them exceptional (LGC Medaille d'OR No 2 comes to mind). I find the Mareva a better cigar but still not up there with the rest of the vitola offerings from other Marques. I still get that herbacious edge which does not sit well with me.

Ginseng Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 Amazing. A cigar that is actually as bad as the Guantanamera Cristales? The few reports of the Especiales suggest that that is quite a bit superior to the Seoane. Have you tried that vitola yet? Wilkey

Personal opinion only....after all....I have some for sale

josie67 Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 You know what is most irritating about this cigar and the nasty Guantanamera is that Cuba decides to keep these pieces of sh-- and discontinue some FANTASTIC cigars like the RG Lonsdale, Dip 1, etc etc. Why don't they just dump these nasties and reintroduce some the quality discontinued cigars? Are they really selling enough of these to warrant having them in their regular production? For the record, I have tried both of these, and they have all been absolutely terrible.

THAT is the reason, in my opinion, that alot of great cigars are being cut from production. i doubt the vegueros line is going to affect how many RG's or DIP's are being made. bruce
El Presidente Posted November 15, 2008 Author Posted November 15, 2008 This is one of the ugliest panatela's I have seen in a while. Vuelta Crapo wrapper and a cigar which looks like it has been beaten by the ugly stick. Rumours are rife that Fidels grand daughter came up ith the Vegueros logo utilising a spare 10 minutes before dinner one night. I always thought that the Vegueros band and brand was proof positive that Altadis ideas and money arrived just in time. Aroma at cold was a sweet hay. cerrated the cap to find a the cap to find a good if over easy draw and a dry vegetal flavour on the lips. Gently torched the end only to find that the foot exploded in flame and putrid smoke. Seriously...I have seen fuses burn slower. Smoke going everywhere and it stunk. Lisa's sister Di comes to the deck and asks if I am smoking mull (note to self...was she just inquiring.... or looking to score? ) The Vegueros Seoane is starting with a vegetarian mix of grass and sauerkraut. Slightly bitter and astringent. Very close to pitching this cigar right here and now but the straight burning linear ash reminds me some poor bugger rolled this and I should do it the respect of smoking it a little further. Some real famliarities with Cuban domestic cigars I have smoked from time to time with the exception it is fuller bodied. The Seoane is sucking every bit of moisture out of the palate...almost chemical in nature. Yet, the little ugly bugger is improving. There are some black pepper elements establishing themselves and the vegetal flavours are leaving. Big white pepper hit through the nose....mostly black pepper and a little burn't coffee on the palate. This cigar is about as subtle as a 1800 $5 a minute chatline (Ken won't be caught out again) but it has a certain ruthlessness that is strangely appealing. More and more toasted tobacco and black pepper showing through. Still medium to full bodied...still relatively one dimensional but the dimension now has no vegetable characteristics at all. Becoming full bodied and mystifying. It has few redeeming features but it does draw you into some masochistic pleasures. The sheer hit is enough to get you to draw again. Having said that if this was a larger format cigar I would have thrown it out 15 minutes ago. Into the last third now and I have come to the conclusion that I am fooling myself into thinking that this cigar has anything really worthwhile to contribute to the world of Havana cigars. Yes it is strong and yes it has black pepper and toasted tobacco notes but it is one dimensional and plain nasty. If you receive one from a mate, seriously question the firendship. 82/100
