Cuban Cigar Website - The Next Stage

Recommended Posts

The website is now one year old.

Users would have seen an (almost) continual change / improvement in the site over the last year. A lot of the added information has been at the request of users.

I think that it is now in its final form. Over the last week, there has been some fine-tuning, plus the addition of drop-down menus to allow quick searching of a production cigar or a special release.

Each entry now has a Gallery link (most are greyed out at the moment). Clicking this link will open all available images of the cigar or release. It may include current and past packaging etc. eg. I have been receiving some vintage images of items not even noted in Nee's.

NOW, if anyone has suitable images, they can be added to the website. Just email me the image or email me the link to where it resides.

This way your favourite images will be available to all and easily & quickly accessible. EVERYTHING IS ACCEPTABLE (cigar wise that is..:-D ). If requested, the source will be acknowledged.

Cheers, Trevor.

Trevor,

The site looks fantastic and is a great reference point.

I must also congratulate Rob for insisting that I pack each one of them individual cigars and send them to you. They were several times that I referred to your orders with some very colourful language, but Rob insisted that I only choose the best.

So well done Trevor and well done Rob

Great site Trevor. Particularly useful for newbies like me.

May I point out one little typo?

Obviously a Freudian Slip!

A suggested 5 pint cigar scale (by Tampa) is:

» I love the new gallery feature, you have some very cool nuggets hidden in there.

Many great items supplied by website users. I thought his would be the best way to display them.

If anyone has some cool images, please share them by emailing them (or a link to where they are located) to me.

can i ask why the lengths of each cigar are listed in "mm" and not inches? i know that's how habanos SA lists them, but is it possible to have both listed?

also, i have a lot of pics of sancho panzas if you'd like any.

Hi Bruce.

Regarding the Sancho Panza's pics........definately YES. You can email me direct at: [email protected]

Regarding mm & inches. Cuba is a metric country, so the cigars are made to exact mm (in theory). Converting to non-metric creates minor errors.

Also on viewing US sites, I find there is not uniform agreement in how to express sizes. Fractions or decimal.

Most sites using fractions show to nearest 1/8 th", but some use 1/16", I have also seen some cigars listed as 1/3" (this probably gave a more exact conversion)

Sites that use decimal inches, eg: 5.3", are to 1, 2 , or 3 decimal places.

I assume that changing from fractions to decimal, is similar to (say) US stock prices that used to be expressed in fractions ($53-5/8) to decimal ($53.625).

Notwithstanding, if there is enough interest, I would consider this. Comments please, including fractions or decimal:

ie: a cigar 5 7/8' long or 5.8" long (decimal, to a single place, is the most efficient for me).

regrads, Trevor.
