Dang Prez, that'd give a little adrenaline rush, huh? If life's boring, risk it :-D

Anyone know what the purpose is of touching and sparking the powerlines with the wand before he gets on and then touching the helecopter once he's strapped in?

Only a guess, but I bet it is to discharge any static electricity, probably generated by the helicopter blades...

Ken, I was thinking of you while watching that video. I envisioned you lighting a cigar with the spark as it arced from the line to the helicopter. :-D

I'd say it was to equalize the charge potential between the helicopter and power line. Once he touches the wand to the lines, he can attach a cable to keep the link between the two and prevent any discharge that could potentially down the helicopter.

Whoa, that's some crazy stuff. Aside from the electricity, scooting along those high tension lines way the hell up in the air is not my idea of fun.

My local utility just purchased a copter for the same purpose.

Looks like alot of fun.

I love heights.
