I have a few boxes of these from ENE06 I think. Fantastic smokes, taste like Bolivar used to taste. Earthy and complex and strong. Not at all ow your box sounds. What a difference a few months makes, I guess.

I'm with the pimp. Mine are great. The one in the photos looks kinda sick.

Nice review, too bad about the wrapper. I can see what you mean about them being more careful about applying the wrapper, if you look at the pic you took of the foot, it looks like its on the cigar a bit loose.

Another nice review Prez and I must say I love whatever camera that is that you use, those pics are so damn clear.

This was a rough looking Inmensa from an open box. Wrapper was pale and one that I have seen on several cigars in 2006 and one which makes me a little nervous. Now I love light wrapper cigars. However there is a variety which I have found to be sourish and imparts a wet grassy flavour which I detest. It is had to describe these wrappers as photo's won't pick it up...however they have a certain "feel" and aroma.

The roll was good although the wraper could have been applied a little more carefully. Smell at cold was tobacco and a parched landscape after a sprinkle of rain.

Cerrated the cap. Draw is good and there is leather, peat and wet grass on the lips (oh oh).

Lit the foot . Medium bodied, maybe a shade under. Adequate level of smoke but tending to be whispy. Initial flavours of earth and leather in classic Bolivar style but also a backgroud sourness. I fricken hate these wrappers.

The Inmensa is trying hard. Good flavours thrown up of earth/leather/espresso. But all ruined by the sourness of wet fermenting grass which leaves a chemical/minerally flavour on the palate.

I will finish the cigar because it does have some redeeming features. Reminds me of your pain in the arse nephew who spend time with more out of obligation than love. I want to love the inmensa but there are parts to its behaviour which I can't tolerate. It may age to become a great cigar but I know right now it would take 8 years minimum to rid itself of the amonia/wet grass characteristics. Who is going to take the risk?

I will locate another to try with a different wrapper. I will also take some of this wrapper to Havana next visit and try to identify what it is and get the story behind it.

Had a AGO '09 Inmensas over the weekend. Pretty well the same experience as Rob if not a little worse. The wrapper was pale with the odd green "blotches". Dominant taste was bitter wet grass, smoke was very wispy and aroma thin (no depth or body, like a very bad wine if that makes any sense).

Had a 12 years old Glenfiddich with this dud. The whisky totally overpowered the cigar, even in the last third as the chemical bitterness was building up...

Would not rate this cigar more than 80.

Rob, if you ever do find out what gives with those rotten wrappers let me know!!

Don't hold much faith for the rest of the box; this may very well be a tosser.

There will be days like this my mother told me :thumbsdwn::thumbsdwn::thumbsdwn:

I also have a few boxes from SEP07 and a few more on the way. Both boxes have beautiful, oily wrappers and the cigars are spot on right now. Sorry to hear about your box Prez.
