Are you...an impulsive buyer or smoker?

After being a CC smoker for the past 4 months only, reading Ethernut's threads and having a few smokes with a BOTL, I have come to the conclusion that I am an impulsive buyer. I find a cigar I want and pull the trigger quickly. My friend tends to be an impulsive smoker...taking a stick right OTB and lighting it up. I, on the other hand, get them in and let them sit for a while before jumping in.

So with that being said...which are you?

Buyer - I have so many cigars relative to the one or two I smoke per week plus the ones I give away, I'll probably die with several coolers full :-P

Its actually Lisa's fault...I believe she laces the cigars with "buy more" powder or something.

I am an impulsive wanter... LOL. I have a list a mile long of cigars I want to try/buy. That said, I only smoke one or two a week, so I am not in too much of a hurry.

As far as smoking OTT, I did that on my first order from The Czar. Never again! I learned my lesson from the experience and listening to the more experienced smokers throughout the internet. I apply the 30 day rule as a minimum.

Definitely an impulsive buyer, but then I tend to sit on the cigars for a while before smoking them

I have an addictive personality trait. It is the reason I have tried hard not to gamble.....it is one of the last major vice's I have managed to avoid

I am not am impulsive buyer for sure. I research the living SH** out of everything I buy to a fault.

But, when I make a decision to buy, it's because I have exhausted all possible means of research to my satisfaction and am ready to pull the freaking trigger. ..and Ill be darned, when I get the product in if I don't pull it out of the box right then and play with it. :-D

When it comes to CC's. I had never had a real cuban cigar before. So in my opinion, a little buyers excitement is to be more than expected. I don't intend to be an elitist punk that stares down my nose at others. I'm just a guy that wants to enjoy the fruits of his research. In fact, I'm getting ready to walk out on the front porch and have a nice calm smoke. I'll probably burn a Monte #4.

Great question tho. Nice post Jay...

I am a compulsive smoker, very few sticks in my humidor have more than 2 or 3 years age on them.

I have been smoking cigars for over 20 years and they come and go from my humidor like grease through a goose( I have no idea what that means but my father always used that phrase to describe my handling of money so it seems appropriate here).

I get them smoke them, share them and very few get put away, I have smoked aged and vintage cigars and find that they are for the most part too mild for me so have never really set out to hold on to any.

Me in a nutshell.......

Buyer, for sure!!! I never feel the need to torch one OTT, and have recently moderated some impulsive buying behavior by digging myself into a financial pit of despair. I am still on the lookout for some specific vitolas, and won't pass up a great deal. I know my mind and thus know I can't keep away from buying for too long.

» You're in stage one of the addiction.

» Be afraid. Credit card meltdown is next.

Oh, I know I am...

I have already gone through my "overly excited" stage and now have a decent collection to pick from...however, the whole credit card situation is another story! There are just too many desired sticks and not quite enough money. I guess I'm just going to have to earn more money! ;-) :-D

i'm not exactly an impulse buyer, but i don't exactly "save" alot of money either. every week or so i check the old bank account to see if there's an extra $100-$300 that can be spent. if there is then i buy SOMETHING. in fact, just this morning about 1am i sent lisa another order. :-D

and once my aristocrat comes in in june then watch out!

Couldn't have said it any better :-D

Every year, I make a list of priorities of boxes that I want to have over the year. I have a basic inventory that I don't have to buy a cigar for 4-5 years if I moderated what I currently have. This means that I can now cherry pick the specials and fill in the gaps that I desire to have in my humidor. Guess that means that for the most part, I don't make rash decisions about what I buy anymore.

Although, there were many years I was buying like a wild man!

Somewhat the same here. Initially I pulled the trigger quickly because I was trying as much as I could. Now I wait for specials and I look for ROI in terms of buying to hold or buying to smoke. I like variety so.... :-D
