Loki
» Hi » Guys anyone have any information on Cuaba. Reviews information. » I don't hear much about these cigars...... I've only had a few of the Salomones from a couple of different years. The sticks I had from 02 seemed to be the best.
Tampa1257
I wrote one a little over 3 years ago on the Cuaba Exclusivos Here you go, it may be a little dated, but I still enjoyed the cigar. One thing to remember, is that IMHO, the Cuaba need quite a bit of humidor time to come around and I have never smoked a young Cuaba that tasted worth a damn. About 3 years before they start tasting good, IMHO. Cuaba Exclusivos Length: 5 ¾ Ring: 46 Cuban The Cuaba Brand was first introduced in 1996 and was the first Cuban Brand to be introduced after Cohiba. All Cuaba’s are Figurado shaped. From my research, they are made in the Romeo y Julieta factory. The Exclusivos was a beautiful Rosado colored wrapper that was smooth as silk with an oily finish. There was not a vein to be seen. Actually this vitola looked perfect and delicious at the same time. I was hesitant to even light it up because of the shear classical look of the Puro. I cut the tip at a slight angle and only took a small amount off, about 3/8 of an inch or so. The pre-draw tasted of a strong tobacco flavor. I took my Prometheus torch lighter and started the foot or should I say tip of the figurado and took my first taste of this excellent Habanos Cigar. My impression was immediately of a strong tobacco flavor, which mellowed out into a medium bodied profile. The Exclusivos had a very smooth draw, which provided a large volume of rich woody flavored smoke. It provided nice aromatic complexities that included hints of toasted nuts, citrus flavors; roasted dark coffee tastes and at points a tangy fruitiness. The Exclusivos had a laser sharp burn and the ash was a firm light gray color. The balance of the cigar was excellent and toward the end it showed hints of honey sweetness along side of the woody flavors. The flavors were succulent to the palate and slowly built into a crescendo of pleasing notes of wood, citrus, coffee, and another tangy fruit that is hard to describe. I really enjoyed this cigar and nubbed it.
greenpimp
I find these have an unpleasant taste when not aged well. My 2002 Exclusivos are still not ready. Or I may just hate the brand. Who knows!? Either way my box is still full.
Digi
» Hi » Guys anyone have any information on Cuaba. Reviews information. » I don't hear much about these cigars...... I have a box of Salamones from late 05. Their smoking characteristics are very good, they have a rich, creamy smoke but the flavor is definitely not ready to go yet. I'll give them another year and try em out again.
El Presidente
I only really like the Divinos (when available) and the Salmomoes. To me, the Divinos are a standout small figurado. Full bodied, earthy ala Bolivar but distinctive with its leather and dark roast coffee charachter. Most of the others leave me cold. The Salomones can be wonderful but can struggle with a wind tunnel draw.
LGHT
Cuaba Salamon Let me describe the cigar first. The cigar size is itself is a treat as it's a "Perfecto". A shaped cigar that is fatter in the middle, closed at its head and tapered or closed at its foot. The cigar was from a box in 03 I believe the code is OSUFEB03. The wrapper was a medium tan, that looked almost golden aginst with subtile vains surrounding the head. The construction appeared flawless and was obviosly rolled with great care and patince. The tip itself had a nice "nipple" that made me question to smoke it or to suckle it from the wrong side. The cap was nice and tight as you could see a small indication of stretching. The band was a nice red background with bright golden letters that laid nicely around the all gold outer portion of the band. Pre light draw was smooth and easy. The flavor was strong, but you could taste slight hints of sweet cream and spice. It reminded me of the first sip of a latte. Lighting this perfecto was as easy as the smooth medium draw. Once the nipple cought the flame the draw was effortless as the smoke easily spewed from the tip. The first few herfs where great. I recall having to take a few more than normal herfs at first to really unleash the flavors. You could taste slight sweet and creamy almost fruity flavors as the cigar began to burn into the larger portion. Then after about 6-7 minutes into the cigar the taste almost seemed to morph into another cigar going from a med/mild cigar to a med/full body cigar. The same creaminess was slightly apperant, but it also added some earthy spiceness as the cigar proceeded. This didn't taste like other cuaba i've smoked in the past and started to remind me of a partagas short on some levels. As I recall this was about the time I licked my lips in enjoyment and I belive it was a bit obvious. The burn was perfect and never wondered from one side to the other. By this time I was really enjoying the cigar after almost 30 minutes and not even reaching half of it's length. As the cigar continued the obvious twang and spice of a habana was really comming through. The richness and full body of the cigar was becoming more and more obvious. About 45 min into the smoke I decided to melow out the full body richness with a cup of coffee. The smoke continued to get stronger as the spice grew stronger. The smoke then brought out some earthy, tanning taste as I past the first hour of the cigar which went good with the coffee. The cigar seemed to last forever going on and on as others where already half way through the second smoke. The full body twang kept getting better and better as I was nearing the band and almost an hour and 15 minutes into it. By this time the cigar was giving me the easy feeling as I smoked and sipped it for almost an hour and a half. I have always enjoyed these cigars and really enjoy the complexity and diverse taste the seem to always come out. If you have the time and enjoy full bodied cigars and have ever smoked a Salamone before this is a must try smoke can't wait until the next few arrive! Appearance: 9/10 Construction: 9/10 Flavor: 17/20 Finish: 9/10 Smoking experience: 18/20 Aroma: 8/10 Overall impression: 18/20 Total: 88/

Ken Gargett
there was a bit in the past, as you can see. my thoughts are that after slogging through quite a few salomones from different sources and with differing levels of maturing, they are the worst, most overrated rubbish havana make. toxic grass clippings that usually smoke with a draw like a wind tunnel. it will be a long time, and it will be with someone else's hooter, before i venture back there.
