Stevieboy Posted March 5 Posted March 5 Partagas 898 unvarnished I believe. Shorter box than the varnished version. 1

Puros Y Vino Posted March 5 Posted March 5 I think I may have smoked at least one of each of those. Only one, I'm not sure if it was the Unvarnished 898. 1

I've hung on to stuff for years and years and they've never improved. 6 hours ago, BrightonCorgi said: I had a box of those where the first 2-3 were tent pegs. Was over a decade ago. I think they are both slightly different sizes. Had the old blend before everything changed a bit. For the varnished, I had only ever bought the 3-4-3's and that was a wicked long time ago.

As far as the 898 goes they are slightly different sizes and blends. Both wonderful cigars. Can’t decide which I prefer but I’ve had much older UV which are spectacular. 2
BrightonCorgi Posted March 5 Posted March 5 The Unvarnished 898's were a bit crude looking, I remember that. 2

Popular Post Havanaaddict Posted March 5 Popular Post Posted March 5 To me it looks like a regular Partagas 898 varnished box from the 70's as it has no Habanos seal and on the varnished box, the 8-9-8 is under the Partagas name on the front. The Unvarnished has a very flat look to it, on the unvarnished 8-9-8 is on the top lid on the corner and lower right front, also says Cabinet Selection. 6
ha_banos Posted March 5 Posted March 5 According to my spreadsheet I have 1 unvarnished 898 left. I had no inkling they were a different blend/cigar. I thought they were just a different era. Now to find the bugger... 3
