jps2345 Posted March 3 Posted March 3 I have the opportunity to purchase some aged Monte 3. How does it compare to the n 4 ? Any help would be great. Thank you.
Popular Post Duder Posted March 3 Popular Post Posted March 3 Monte 3 along with Monte 1 are the largely unsung heroes of the marca. It’s also one of the last remaining Coronas which is a favorite vitola of many. Fantastic cigars especially with 10+ years. If you found some 30 year olds well then I’m jealous. Montecristo age to perfection for my taste anyway. 12
cybermadhatter Posted March 3 Posted March 3 How aged are they? 2013’s were great, more complex with some nutty flavors. 05’s were great too, more woodsy than usual. The ones I had from other decades were amazing, with the classic cocoa and vanilla mixture. I find them more complex than the 4’s, but ymmv, b/c they make so many 4’s. I like them overall better than the 2. 4

Popular Post Çnote Posted March 3 Popular Post Posted March 3 It's a great example of a corona. For me 2014 is a little hit and miss but do you have the full code? If you can justify them, do it. I've only regretted not buying cigars, never the other way around. 12

rcarlson Posted March 3 Posted March 3 I've found Montecristo characteristic flavors decline over time more so than other marcas. Personally, I wouldn't hunt for anything over 5-7. With that said, No 3's can be hit and miss at any age flavor wise, as can the 4's. As for good examples of each, I find the 3's more subdued and woody than 4's. Both great though. 4
Popular Post BrightonCorgi Posted March 3 Popular Post Posted March 3 No one is going to turn their nose at box of Monte No. 3's (assuming they look decent). As classic as a Cuban cigar gets. 6
Popular Post Ford2112 Posted March 3 Popular Post Posted March 3 Prefer these to the 4. Even the lackluster ones have been decent enough, and when on, they are one of my favorite Monte hands down. 6
Popular Post CaptainQuintero Posted March 3 Popular Post Posted March 3 The no.3 is such a stunning cigar, for me they only start to get going with 4-6 years on them. There's plenty of reviews on them here, they're like the no.4 but grown up and sophisticated. 7
