El Presidente Posted December 2 Posted December 2 This Ramon Allones Club Allones Extra Edicion Limitada 2011 divided the global cigar community like no other. You either loved them or hated them but those that bought them certainly were on one side of the fence or the other This 44 X 143 mm cigar wasn't expensive and it was generally deemed to be one that would age well given that many although it had some "rough edges and elbows" on the palate, it did have richness in spades. Coming on 15 years since release. How did they evolve? Did they evolve at all? Did they age well? Your experience? Have your say 1
Popular Post westg Posted December 2 Popular Post Posted December 2 From 2 boxes had a couple that were ok. Picked up a box in Hong Kong that looked stunning they were also disappointing. One of the few LE releases that fell short for me . Gorgeous looking cigars that were complete flat trackers. 7
Lucas Buck Posted December 2 Posted December 2 They were bangers fresh and even better now. One of the all time EL bargains and I took great advantage of that fact. Took a little sting out of the tragic loss of the magnificent RAC. 4
Popular Post JohnS Posted December 2 Popular Post Posted December 2 I seem to recall that a few Ramon Allones special releases were powerhouses back then (when released). The Asia-Pacific Regional Edition Ramón Allones Celestiales Finos being a prime example also. 5
Popular Post cigaraholic Posted December 7 Popular Post Posted December 7 The cigar gods were very good to me with this cigar. Got a box as soon as they were for sale, I loved the size and love fruity tobacco. Waited my mandatory 30 minutes to smoke a cigar I’ve never tried and it was just what I’d hoped for! A delicious fruitcake bomb, reminded me what RA regular production used to smoke like 50 years ago🦕🦖Ordered more immediately, and while waiting for them started reading reviews, most were not good. The 'ole 'fireproof EL wrapper complaint' and 'they taste like dirt', I can remember. There were some very good reviews, maybe a bad cigar brings out the keyboard quicker. Seems like there were some fantastic boxes and lots of nightmares. I’m nursing my was through my last box, for me it’s an incredible smoke with vintage Port. TAU SEP11 PS…Yes, they were expensive! 5 2
riderpride Posted December 7 Posted December 7 I wanted to like these so much. I love the vitola, beautiful appearance, great construction, but that was where it ended. I've heard that the blend depends greatly on the factory, but I cannot confirm. I'm glad there are fans, but my experiences were not pleasant, unfortunately. Cheers! 2 1
Popular Post Fugu Posted December 13 Popular Post Posted December 13 Yeah, I remember, there had been a lot of love-hate debating on these when they came out. A divisive release for sure. Some folks were even likening its profile to NC in character. While I don’t see that, I agree that they are special cigars with a quite distinct character. One that’s obviously not appealing to everyone (or at least had been when they were young). This thread reminds me, I am smoking them way too sparingly! 😄 With a few years of maturing they settled into nice, full-flavoured cigars (med to med-full in body) with even a marca-typical expression. That said, wrapper burn issues could indeed be an occurrence in this EL. I think I recall our Lisa @canadianbeaver is a fan, and has on several occasions been commenting positive on them. 9

Remember this like it was yesterday brother. Loved them from launch and posts gave me weird responses until a few years later. Made so much dough at BR I bought to put some back in my coolidors. 🥰 CB 1
CaptainQuintero Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago I hated them originally, every one from multiple different boxes tested of burnt newspaper and the wrappers were fireproof. I had an aged one about 5 years or so and loved it; stewed fruit up the wazoo, perfect burn too. Whether the years transformed it or I finally got one of the good ones I'm not sure. I suspect the latter and that there was significant construction variations. 3
