What's up for the Weekend?

Gardening Saturday as I tidy up before heading away in a few weeks. Trying to work out an irrigation system that won't fail after 12 months. Once I get this garden crap sorted out today, it will be a late afternoon cigar, two newspapers, Rugby on the outdoor TV, Picahna Roast on the BBQ.

Sunday is morning workout followed by lunch with Steve (MoeFOH) and Di before all heading to the big Rugby League game at 2PM where Di will be on trial to see if she is ever permitted to again go to a live sporting event.

What's up for the weekend?

It's cold this weekend in Cowtown (13c) with 40-80 mm of rain expected in the next 36 hours or so. My son's sports have been canceled, so we'll look to do something indoors. The rain isn't unexpected this time of year, but the cold is definitely out of place and ticking off a lot of campers.

Sounds like a good weekend ahead for you irrigation aside. Di's tryout - is that because she points and says 'hey look at that' while you miss a brilliant play?

Cheers, and hope you all have a good one!

The heat will be fierce in our area for the next 4 days. Maybe go out for quality Tex Mex tomorrow. Seems appropriate for the weather. Of course a mitt full of cigars throughout.

Good luck. Looks like Chitown has a shot at setting some records - TexMex sounds appropriate. Hopefully the rain will help out in a few days.

Cheers!

Unfortunately, I misjudged a big step yesterday at work while navigating a new building we've all moved into a week ago. I took a fall, grazed myself and went off to hospital for scans. No broken bones, but I insisted on a referral upon leaving for a Ultrasound/MRI to ascertain any muscular sprain or minor tear in my right leg (Which I've booked for Monday).

So, I'm convalescing this weekend and nursing my sore right hip with painkillers. Such is life. The photo below was taken by my wife, Eleni when we left hospital after 4 or 5 hours and had a late lunch as a popular, local cafe near our house. Yeah, how funny...I should sign up for that class. It would be useful! 😂

My wife and I reached out to our neighbours in our small cul-de-sac this week to see if they wanted our lounge furniture. My direct neighbour next to our house (also named John) took the furniture with the help of three of four other guys in the street this morning. Yes, it's an amazing neighbourhood. Everyone gets on well and we enjoy street parties from time-to-time.

Obviously, we await out new furniture to be delivered early next week.

At our age, not that we are old by any stretch, it does become a little easier to fall and a little longer to recover. Rest up mate. I fell flat on my back a few weeks ago on my bathroom floor. Didn't even know what happened until my shoulder started screaming with pain and my partner and her daughter screaming with laughter. Blue eyed demons, the both of them.

Sad to hear that John. Hope no major damage or tears.

Here’s a picture of my broken foot when I was run over by a car last September. Was in the pedestrian cross walk, had the right-of-way, and had looked both directions before entering the walk way. Lady came around the corner without looking. I was fortunate it was only broken. I’m still not fully recovered, but back to work after 8 months.

Working overtime all weekend. I need to find the time to mow the lawn this weekend too. It's been a work in progress this spring, but it's looking good and I'm trying to not let it get out of control. Hopefully we get some rain here in the next few days, the water bill can get a bit extreme in the Colorado heat. Maybe I'll even make time for a cigar if I'm lucky.

Let the lovely dog distract you from the weeds.

Thanks, West!

Looks very good. If you’re east of the divide, there’s not much rain to be had, is there?

It's been a fairly wet spring for Colorado, with some mild weather in between, but summer is here and the heat and dryness has kicked in. It's been 90°f and dry for the last week or so but some rain and cooler days are coming this week. It's a constant battle to keep cool season grass active here during the summer.

We had a good patch of rain a couple of weeks ago! Where are you based in Colorado? I’m in the Thornton/Brighton area.

Very nice. I'm in Golden myself. I think I was hoping the mild weather would stick around, but I guess that was a little optimistic, but I'll take I'll the rain I can get.
