Vitola

  1. 1. What role is vitola currently playing in your rotation?

    • Primary. It's my focal point and most of what I'm currently loving is this vitola or very close to it.
    • Moderate. I have a sweet-spot but my current favourites vary decently around it.
    • Not much at all. I'll go from long skinnies to short hand cannons, or anything in between, at the drop of a hat.

Performance and price over the last year have led me to invest in robustos and petit coronas. Also shouting out the petit pyramid. These vitolas have been quite enjoyable and work well for me with few issues.

I went for moderate. Vitola plays a fairly large part in my current rotation as I am often limited by time. However, I typically buy larger length cigars and would, if I could, happily smoke churchills, double coronas and lanceros all day everyday.

Weather and time of day. But nothing like a Churchill or DC. If at my local shop it’s whatever flavor in mood for and in stock.

I’m newer, so I’m still figuring out favorites on all fronts: flavors, length, ring guage, etc. while I’ve had churchills and double coronas that have blown me away, I reach for a robusto or corona gorda much more frequently. Even more frequently are petit robustos, or sometimes half coronas —they just slot in to the average day better.

Anything but minutos and pc's. Whats the point? Whats next - cigarillos? 😄

Moderate for me. But it can really vary from a robusto extra to a cigarillo. I find the right cigar for the right moment.

Short smokes for bad weather and short on time. The bigger vitolas I generally save for vacation time or time off work or when the rain/snow stops. That's not always the case though. It really can be a coin flip it also doesn't help that I can sometimes smoke incredibly slow compared to the "normal" times. Sometimes I'll be rummaging through thinking Im going for a bigger stick and then I get caught up looking/remembering, or finding old ones. Then I lose track of time so it turns into a shorter smoke, cause if I have something to do after on a time crunch, I don't like feeling rushed on a cigar. I want to get the full experience and enjoy it.

My main preferred size would be 46 or anything around it but all my favorites are in all different sizes. I'd say I smoke a majority smaller vitolas with also a bunch of bigger ones. It really just depends on the time I've got.

For those of us that are slow smokers and can’t make 1.5hrs plus per day to smoke anything bigger 😊

In all reality, I’d love to smoke Churchills and DCs every day - but that’s not the plan the world seems to have for me at the moment.

Being out of China and back in SLC and Toronto for almost 2 months I realized it wouldn't be an option. Fortunately, in China I can just smoke at the office and nobody seems to mind 😆

For when you’re a fiend for lonsdales but you’re half a bottle into the Ardbeg and it’s late and a long drive back…a shorter 42 rg it is. There’s more than one way to flay a feline.

And thanks for liking my HUPC daily smoke post 😁

How about 3 a.m. and the crew still wants to go out for street bbq. Trust me I get that there are times when they are needed, I just would never excitedly grab one.

Morning coffee and a Rafael Perla is a thing of beauty. A Monte 4 helped get me hooked on cigars all those years ago. Also, Partagas Chicos are really good. Partagas shorts, San Cristobal Principe, Boli PCs all pack a lot of flavor. For me they have their place, and I'm a Lonsdale/DC fiend.

I did love a perla with coffee while in Cuba. good shout.

As I'm sure you'd agree, I feel the heat that gets pulled thru the whole cigar helps develop the flavour so that the final third hits on all cylinders. The smaller vitolas, imho, don't develop as much.

Double Corona are my ultimate, especially the Punch DC.
