Drguano Posted November 27, 2024 Posted November 27, 2024 What wine will you be serving tomorrow? I will start with Roederer Estate NV Brut but cannot decide on a red to go with the main course. I have narrowed it down to one of the following: Rose Rock Pinot Noir from Oregon, St.-Cosme Cote du Rhône, Seghesio Rockpile zinfandel or Omaggio, a California ‘Tuscan blend’. I am not cooking the bird or any sides and have no idea if there are any surprises. 1
El Presidente Posted November 27, 2024 Posted November 27, 2024 If you ever find this...jump on it. Turkey and Sparkling Shiraz are a match made in heaven. Rockford is perhaps the best, but there aren't too many bad ones. 4
REesq Posted November 28, 2024 Posted November 28, 2024 I love the choices so far. I'm old school, starting with a 2012 Pol Roger, Champagne, following with a 1996 Pontet-Canet, Bordeaux, and finishing with a 2021 Lafaurie-Peyraguey, Sauternes. 2

MrBirdman Posted November 28, 2024 Posted November 28, 2024 I really like Riesling with Thanksgiving because you end up with a lot of different stuff on your plate and a good Riesling is so versatile. Edit: Just reread your post and see you're looking for a red. You already suggested what I'd recommend - a nice Williamette Valley pinot, and you even suggested one from my favorite area in the Valley, Eola-Amity hills. I would normally take a bottle of Cristom to Thanksgiving tomorrow but almost no one in my family drinks anymore! 2
Lamboinee Posted November 28, 2024 Posted November 28, 2024 Absolute fave wines I've had in the last 3-5 years. I'm not a wine geek, but these are just soooo good. Turkey is over rated and requires a lot of attention with nominal payoff imo.

Bests do a cracker with the Great Western Sparkling Shiraz and Pirramimma too when you don't want to break the bank. 1

We are doing a couple of yet to be decided Champagnes, some 1990's Beaux Frères Pinot's along with Rioja. I know for sure we are drinking a 1994 Cockburn magnum as I decanted it yesterday. It's been sitting uncorked in the bottle on the dining table. One of our guests is a big chard drinker so I'll need to dig up something for her. 1

Chas.Alpha Posted November 28, 2024 Posted November 28, 2024 I actually just ordered this. 😔 A year down, I’m ready to give a rather exciting review of the new N1. These have smoothed out very well. Your thoughts?
Chibearsv Posted November 28, 2024 Posted November 28, 2024 I agree that they are coming along nicely. I’ve still got plenty of 21s and they continue to reign supreme for me, but the gap is closing
Chitmo Posted November 29, 2024 Posted November 29, 2024 I usually just drink gravy with my turkey. 🤷♂️ 1
