MoeFOH Posted September 23, 2024 Posted September 23, 2024 The VR Famosos post was a cracker - some great feedback and insights! So we're keeping this series going... for at least one more week... Thanks to @loose_axle who has offered up the San Cristobal La Punta as the next stick to be scrutinised. For me, it's definitely under the radar as believe I've only had one or two on the deck with Rob/Friday session... those days tend to produce foggy memories, if any at all. Our contributor describes them as medium-bodied with a Christmas pudding & cream flavour profile, and a favourite to go with drinks like a rum, brandy, sherry, et al. Sounds pretty damn good to me!... What are your experiences with them? Vote in the poll, discuss below. PM me if you have a cigar you wish to suggest for the series. 2
Popular Post NSXCIGAR Posted September 24, 2024 Popular Post Posted September 24, 2024 I think La Punta largely deserves it's place. I find it to be the SC with the least amount of character and the worst value. I'd take a La Fuerza over it every time. What they should do is kill the La Punta and resurrect the Muralla. 7
loose_axle Posted September 24, 2024 Posted September 24, 2024 I'm one of those who prefer it of the La Fuerza and El Principe every time. Might be just my luck in the boxes I've had. I really need to try the Prado and Jarra Torreon. Would love if they resurrected the El Morro. 2

It seems so long ago since the El Morro was discontinued. In fact, it look awhile before we even realised it was no longer made. Officially it was 2013, but it was around 2015 that we knew it was not coming back. In comparison to other San Cristobal de La Habana cigars it didn't have much going for it in the way of sales, but like the Vegas Robaina Do Alejandro it stood out as having a different and distinct profile for a long-and-skinny. In any case, I digress. This thread is all about the SCdLH La Punta, no? I'm glad it's around but I'm afraid that I may be contributing to its future demise (alongside the SCdLH La Fuerza) as I don't ever seem to reach out for anything within this marca, of late, other than the El Principe. 2
Ford2112 Posted September 24, 2024 Posted September 24, 2024 I was really high on the Fuerza a few years ago. Kinda forgot about them. I do love the Principe. I never go for La Punta as I am not a huge piramides guy. 1
Chibearsv Posted September 24, 2024 Posted September 24, 2024 I’ve only ever had one La Punta gifted by a fellow FOHer, and it was good. Fuerzas, however, I’ve had several boxes and I enjoy them a lot. I guess they were more available at the time. 1
Boxer31 Posted September 25, 2024 Posted September 25, 2024 4 yr old box - seems like every other one is good, others not so or just bland. 1
Garand Posted September 25, 2024 Posted September 25, 2024 I like the La Punta. As a torpedo fan it’s just a good stick. I‘m a huge fan of SCdLH in general, surprised that they are not that popular. But that leaves more for me 1
Edicion Posted September 25, 2024 Posted September 25, 2024 La Punta is like that friend you bring to a party that's easy going, never gets out of line, gets along with almost everyone and never draws too much attention but is always a good companion. 3
