To be honest I think this is more a result of a think tank to see what cheap policies can be better brought in to make it seem like the govt care

I've no data but I'd assume tobacco tax revenue is at an already historic low, nearly everyone I see who used to be the beginner smoker audience (14-20?) heavily vape instead

No children smoking is great, but I prefer education over legislation for almost all issues in life

Not to get into a political debate but I want to point out that in the US there are as many, if not more smoking bans and restrictions in Republican states as there are Democratic states.   Canad

Even as a cigar smoker I don't see the issue with this. I'd be happy to see a reprieve for cigars but it's not hard to see the damage that cigarettes do, it's not something I'd want my kids doing.

All in all, smoking is bad but there are many other legal substances that are a lot more poisonous than smoking but the left ruling the world will never do anything about it, just because these legal poisonous substances sounded left.

Imagine pulling this out in the parliament.

I agree, there are worse things. But, Tobacco's demonization has been a thing since the 1960's, if not earlier. It's not a Left vs Right thing. On FOH alone there are tons of cigar smokers from both spectrums. As for other troublesome items, such as sugar, artificial sweeteners, etc. that's more of an indicator of capitalism run amok. Tobacco use is not a ubiquitous as it once was, so it's being replaced by other consumables that are more universally consumed by the masses to drive even higher profits. Such as food. In Canada, tobacco continues to be trounced on and our gov'ts have already tasked weed with bringing in the tax revenues that Tobacco used to do. Slight problem is, and they wont admit it, is that most users prefer to smoke it vs the other methods.

Far left tyranical policy. They try to ban all kind of smoking, just because smoking looked like the thing people on the right would do. If it's really 100% aimed for public health, why don't they ban artificial food coloring, artificial flavor, artificial sweetener, lab grown meat, chemical food preservative, and limit the amount of sugar can be used on any prepared drink?

Canada is no different. Alberta which could be described as the staunchest right leaning Government has been lock step in bans, tax increases and anti tobacco legislation. The same is true on a Federal level under Conservative governments.

This point gets brought up a lot, and when you look at what legislation has passed you quickly see it is a non-partisan issue.
