"Aye, so there it is. I've got a budget of 500 quid a year for me two cigars a week down at the local. Me humidor's just a tupperware container, and like Ken, I use a Tesco plastic bag when I'm off. I won't smoke owt smaller than a corona gorda and I prefer a robusto. I know Cubans are out of the question, sod them. What Nic/Dom/HD/Martian cigars can you recommend that fit the bill?"

Do they still make the NC HdM / Punch Rothschilds Robustos in the 50 cab?

I would suggest he scours the online cigar merchants for sales on NC's. Does JR Cigar or Holts ship to his country?

I second the Illusione Rothschilds, at least, in maduro, not Connecticut. I wasn't a fan of the Connecticut.

The Alec Bradley Project 40 is quite good for a cheaper smoke, as well. The natural on this one. I haven't had the maduro.

Location is going to play a significant role in the recommended cigars. A $5 cigar for me from discount vendors could be someone else's $25+ cigar. The usual recommendations would be Warped MdT/Cloud Hopper, Illusione Epernay, Oliva V, NW Dorado, Hemingway, CAO Pilon, and of course Nudies.

CAO Columbia (if medium is enough). Not overpowering, but tasty flavors and great aroma. A little time in storage helped with balance too.

Expecting to find a $6 cigar in 2024 that is decent may be challenging. Does such a thing exist?

Drew Estate Liga Undercrown Maduro ( Corona Viva)

Olivia Connecticut Reserve (Lonsdale)

Foundation Charter Oak Shade (Lonsdale)

JRE Aladino Cameroon (Lonsdale)

Padron Delicias can be found for around $6 and are a solid cigar, around the size of a Hermoso No. 4. I like them.

The person who wrote this email is almost certainly from the north of England. Being from the UK myself, I’m quite certain that unless he’s buying non-Cubans internationally via the internet and hoping the tax man doesn’t find out then he doesn’t stand a cat’s chance in hell of getting a decent cigar for under £5. Such is the sad state of things in Britain in the current year.

I was thinking the same thing, the situation here in Canada is pretty similar.

Factory Smokes robusto are 2 bucks each in the US. So rolling the dice may yield some luck...

I found these De Olifant Robusto Valentino at £5.79 a pop! No idea how rough though 🤣

Double the budget for many more options!
