Habanoschris Posted May 28, 2024 Posted May 28, 2024 In my experience, in some cases can't hurt to season as to prevent having a baseline RH that is below desired level but definitely not needed in all and maybe most cases. 😚💨
Fuzz Posted May 29, 2024 Posted May 29, 2024 Anyone else find that when watching a Kirby vid, instead of paying attention to the topic you just end up being distracted by his constant hand movements? 3
VeguerosMAN Posted May 29, 2024 Posted May 29, 2024 What's the point of having wooden humidors these days? Just throw in a couple 65% boveda packs in the xikar travel cases and humi bags you are good to go. Worry free.
BoliDan Posted May 29, 2024 Posted May 29, 2024 No. Wooden humidors are a bloated luxury expense. @PigFish Ray, I have a wine cooler which is my most consistent humidor. I don't think cigars need this much attention of cedar contact, it does not improve the product , that is just ageing. In fact I would think metal is fine for cigar storage. 1

Yea, same. 😄 Although I’m guilty of the same thing. Since moving to a big wineador and several tuppers on the side, I haven’t worried a bit about seasoning in years. My one large box has several bundles of Nudies/MOFOH, and a smaller one holds some bundles of custom rolls, but I didn’t season. Just filled them with sticks and they acclimated great at 65%. I might’ve gotten lucky. 1

Easy to get a couple cedar trays online for loosies, and never needed to season those trays; still hold a very consistent RH. 1
Ford2112 Posted May 29, 2024 Posted May 29, 2024 The minute he said ' more modest ellie bleu' I tuned out. Sorry Veguerosm....Kirby 2

PigFish Posted May 29, 2024 Posted May 29, 2024 For a moment I thought I was addressing the barbecue thread again…. I will blame @BoliDan for sucking me into this one! Oh, a pun is in there somewhere, Kirby, vacuum, sucking…. Never mind! Carry on people, Oh, yes wood in humidors… About as useful as the 20mhz processor in today’s computers. 2
Jerryvonkramer Posted May 29, 2024 Posted May 29, 2024 I re-seasoned two of my desktop humidors recently for 2 weeks using the 84% Boveda packs, and I think it made a 4-5% difference to stable RH. I was having to use 69% ones to achieve 64% before, now 65% hold stable 64-6. 1

The funny thing is, he will have gone to some paid week of grifter seminars to learn these moves. It just makes him look like a malfunctioning C3P0.
