I assume they are all presold to retailers.

They could double the price and still sell out.

Honestly, with the surge in super-premiums in the NC space I expected at least $200/stick, especially with such a nice presentation.

Marvin Shanken likely received one as a gift. (For all that advertising in CA magazine). Those two likely carry that smile all the way to the bank! $$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Yup.  At some point the absurdity of the pricing makes my wife's complaint ("You know you are literally burning money") ring true.

It was all so much more fun when things were more normal.  Finding out all about flavors you (and others) enjoyed was the excitement and sharing was just easy peasy.

For the same reasons I often find beautiful, complex Tequilas much more interesting than beautiful, complex bourbons these days.

My local B&M got their box yesterday. Only allowing customers to buy two. At $200 apiece. I did buy two and put them in my wineador. Put them down for awhile.

Fuente y Padrón Legends (Padrón)

From October 2020 to March 2024, there was one topic that was seemingly inescapable in cigar-related conversations: Legends, the project between Arturo Fuente and Padrón that would see two of the most well-known figures in the cigar industry make cigars in honor of each other’s departed fathers, themselves icons of cigars.

The project that would become Fuente y Padrón Legends was first announced in October 2020, though at the time, many details were still to be worked out. What was known was that Carlos “Carlito” Fuente Jr. and Jorge Padrón said they had been working on the idea in the years following their fathers’ passings: Carlos Fuente Sr. in August 2016 and Jose O. Padrón in December 2017. The project would see Jorge Padrón create a cigar in honor of Carlos Fuente Sr., while Carlito Fuente would create a cigar in honor of Jose O. Padrón. Additionally, both cigars would measure 7 inches long and have a 50-ring gauge, with the plan to release the cigars at some point in 2021.

That initial target date would come and go without the cigars being released, and while the project wasn’t quite ready for release, it would be unveiled at the 2022 PCA Convention & Trade Show, gathering a shoulder-to-shoulder crowd in the aisleways around the companies’ booths.

Did the two families come up with the blends together? If not, this isn't a collaboration at all.

Was relieved to find that they didn’t collaborate. Never been a fan of Nica-Dominica hybrid blends at all.
