Fuzz Posted February 16, 2024 Posted February 16, 2024 I love that film! Just saw it a few weeks ago. 1
Fuzz Posted February 16, 2024 Posted February 16, 2024 Stephen Strucker as Johnny was one of the best parts of the film. The writers gave him his scenes and let him write his own lines. Most of the time you were laughing too hard in his scenes, you never noticed the little things. Like the ice cream cone at the press conference. 4
Li Bai Posted February 16, 2024 Posted February 16, 2024 Leslie Nielsen, Lloyd Bridges, Peter Graves and everybody else... This movie is the epitome of comedy to me, so sad nothing close could be done anymore nowadays... 1
JohnS Posted February 16, 2024 Posted February 16, 2024 Incredibly, this film is a close remake of the 1957 film, 'Zero Hour!'. The only thing is, that film was not a comedy. 'Airplane' borrows dialogue from that film, yet makes it hilarious! 1

Li Bai Posted February 16, 2024 Posted February 16, 2024 Of course, one has to love the Naked Guns 🤣😂😂

I didn't know it was a remake until some months ago, i've seen bits of the original and you're absolutely right, it makes Airplane 10 times funnier 🤣😂 1
Ken Gargett Posted February 17, 2024 Posted February 17, 2024 in Australia, it was called 'Flying High', which somehow seems better. for many years, we had no idea what americans were on about when they talked Airplane. we'd tell them that might sound funny but the film you really need to see was 'Flying High'. i have a vague feeling that Flying High was the name they wanted but not allowed in the States. sensational film. so many great lines. an all time classic (so was Flying High)! 1

In France it was called "Y a-t-il un pilote dans l'avion ?" which translates to "Is there a pilot in the plane?" (and the "Naked Gun" was "Is there a cop to save the Queen?") ! Still a better flying experience than flying with Qantas isn't it 😉?
