How long do you think it will be before there is an international AI film star?  Like Tom Cruise or the Rock that is totally AI and attracts people to their movies in the same manner as Tom Cruise would. Would this AI star be on Graham Norton and the like?

How dare you suggest AI would be able to replicate the method acting majesty that is Keanu Reeves

Interesting to think about. Would the public be fully away this is AI rather than a human? I’d like to think it’d be hard for that to take hold, but you never know.

I think Tom Cruise might already be full AI.

Really?! I always thought he was your garden variety alien. Maybe it’s a combo of the two, kinda like the Borg?

To the original question, I think we’re more likely to get AI newscasters and musicians long before fully AI movie stars. While acting ability does not always index with star power, even the pretty ones can’t be completely inept. If you look at the auto-generated facial expressions used for dialogue in many modern video games, you’ll see how far it has to go before becoming truly compelling. Music, on the other hand, has already had generative AI hits.

In short, I think it’ll be a while yet for a true blue chipper like Cruise to emerge. But AI built animated characters, especially for children’s shows? Probably pretty close.

Something is going on. He seems to be regenerating.

Indeed. I imagine his morning routine begins something like this…

They would know actor is AI.  If AI character has a persona beyond the film itself I think people would have a hard time separating the reality.

Not far off from actual celebrity actors and actresses.  We see their movies, their pictures of doing stuff and interviews.  We don't see them face to face (normally), so all that is presented is really no different than an AI creation.

He is. We all are, if you're a true believer in Scientology. As an Operating Thetan, he has full control over life, thought, matter energy, space and time. Obviously. 😁 I'd take that over AI immortality any day.

Oh I'm sure Scientology and John Travolta have it all figured out. lol. So just for two-and-a-half hours of your day, a quarter of a million dollars minimum, and at least 40 years of your life, you can too.

Take a little Clint Eastwood, mix in touch Robert Redford & Rock Hudson.  Wonder how AI would make that character look?

That is the first I suppose.  Like calling ALF a star.
