I was terse in my explanation because in discussions like this it leads to offtopic conversations that are frankly exhausting. The comparison here is that there is an onslaught of people yelling 'fire' online and causing actual harm, and death in the same way that a stampede or riot would. There are no legal ramifications for this behavior and the current way of handling it has been left up to the social media platform. yeah, i was just being a shitter. but you’d be surprised how many people don’t know the nuance and it’s my pedantic job to explain it to them, damnit! 1

I am regularly treated to politically charged ads posing as documentaries by mysterious organizations which are probably funded by the Chinese government. That's actually a hard one. I've spent maybe 1-2 hours lifetime on Tik Tok but whenever I do they're really good at dialing it in. Not with random orgs, but with local Ontario/Canada (or at least North American) content by seemingly "amateur" vloggers that are aligned with my politics in a way broader media isn't. While that content is usually debunking mainstream media narratives, I am sure there are adjacent rabbit holes that I could go down to end up in those echo chambers you mention.
aulrone Posted August 18, 2023 Posted August 18, 2023 Absolutely wild, but not surprising. I thought a lot of the insanity and facism was only happening in the US, but it appears to be a global phenomenon. Supposedly, there’s a 66 trillion dollar influence to push these decisions by a few global corporations. Often times, they send out “consultants” such as Mckinsey and Co. and they meddle in just about every major company and country, including China, Russia, Alphabet (Google / YouTube), Facebook, etc. it is why these seemingly random entities do the same stuff. ESG is another one of the tactics they use. We see a lot of companies commit political and financial suicide just to appeal to their ESG score because it’s more important to them over billions of lost dollars. Economic guys like the rich dad poor dad guy say it’s absolute nonsense. Logically, yes. We think they lost their mind but it’s because that 66 trillion dollar push is so much greater. That’s how deep the rot has spread and how blind we’ve become to it. The pareto distribution will eventually find the majority of wealth and control will end up in the hands of a few. Unfortunately, those few don’t have us in their best interests. 2
