Popular Post NSXCIGAR Posted July 11, 2023 Popular Post Posted July 11, 2023 This cigar never came without bands post-Rev to my knowledge. As far as anything else that jumps out the warranty seal looks quite large but would have to be measured. Also the print on the ribbon is remarkably bold. Usually ribbon printing from the 60s-80s is much fainter. Also, the style of the font is slightly different than the older boxes of 898 I've seen but admittedly I haven't seen that many. 5 1
dominattorney Posted July 12, 2023 Posted July 12, 2023 306 euro for a box of 25 cigars that aren't half corona? I'll take the punt.
El Presidente Posted July 12, 2023 Author Posted July 12, 2023 That wax paper looks very pristine for a 60 year old box 2

The chances that's 60 year old wax paper are very low. Also, the box looks like it's had all the varnish stripped off. There's a couple tiny spots of it left but it looks like this box has had another life.

That's meant to be the unvarnished one (the Coronas). I'd say a typical case of a genuine box refill. Though I'd be careful with going by the glassine paper (alone). I've got aged/vintage boxes (SLBs, 898s) with near none to no staining at all. Seems to depend on storage conditions and glassine quality. But what I've seen from that era all seems to at least show a more or less even yellowing. In this case here, I would at least expect the resin blots in the lid to show a corresponding marking in the glassine.

You're right--I saw "Cabinet Selection" and thought that was only on the varnished but it was both. Also explains the size of the warranty seal. The box is smaller than it looks. I also wouldn't rely on the wax paper alone but it's highly unlikely it would be as pristine as it is. Possible I suppose under the most ideal of conditions but very unlikely.
