This is only the second time I've smoked this corona gorda, the first being 2 years ago, so figured it was time to revisit. Box code is OER NOV 19, just about 3.5 years of box age on this one now.

First third: draw is tight, almost too tight, but just enough smoke gets through. Flavor gets going right off the bat with almond shortbread and a deep rich tobacco note. Cinnamon spice, kind of like Red Hots candy and a raisin like sweetness on the finish.

Middle third: almond shortbread over a rich base of dark coffee. The cinnamon spice is still there but has receded into the background a bit.

Last third: the dark coffee undertones take a step back but the cinnamon spice returns with a vengeance. Almond shortbread and spice, definitely on the spicy end of the spectrum of Cubans.

Overall: good, but I wish the draw had been a tad looser. The spice was more intense than I expected and I'll probably reach for this box sparingly until a few more years of age are in it. 88/100
