El Presidente Posted May 2, 2023 Posted May 2, 2023 EAR= Email Assistance Required. There are a few thinks to unpack in this one.....excuse the pun "How do you store the high end gloss boxes? In the boxes in the humidor? Plastic on or off? In the velvet bag? With the polystyrene padding? In the cardboard? How will these survive over 20 years+? Will having all the protective packaging help with the value of the box in the long term?"
NSXCIGAR Posted May 2, 2023 Posted May 2, 2023 I always default to storage in intact factory packaging. As far as long-term storage I think that laquered BN boxes are about the best there is behind 898 boxes and tubos, then aluminum foil.

Best example of the top of my head is Macallan 18 vintage dated. The box is usually worth 2/3 of an intact bottle/box set, the bottle is sometimes worth only half.
El Presidente Posted May 3, 2023 Author Posted May 3, 2023 I have always stored them as they come, plastic protector sheets and all.

Materials wise, everything is in a constant state of decay. us included. You might look at a lacquer box the day it was made, and then 50 years down the line and it may look no different, however materials like this, are breaking down and 'off gassing' they may be doing it incredibly slowly, but they are still doing it. Personally I don't want any of that stuff near my cigars. Simply branded cedar boxes people!!! there is a reason intelligent people came up with this. 4
BrightonCorgi Posted May 3, 2023 Posted May 3, 2023 I store them the same way the vendor stores them. Outside of Cohibas or Sir Winstons, I throw away the outer cardboard box once the cigars are in my smoking rotation. 2
