There may or may not have been an early bourbon involved but I just did the unthinkable. ( for me ).

Grandson in Nashville is having out patient surgery today. No biggy, out patient. In and out. While on the phone ( group chat with the whole family ) I go to cut a Monte 1 out of possibly the best box of these I have. They have him on speaker phone, I'm sure @SigmundChurchill has plenty of stories of people waking up, but they tell him as he's coming around, they have me on the phone. Big mistake. He proceeds to tell us how much he loves me and all I have taught him ( Like I'm dead! ) I didn't have my perfect cutter so I'm using an older guillotine. I cut the damn thing through the band because we are all laughing so hard at what he is saying.

So I WAY over cut one of my best cigars but do not even care anymore. Kind of like you go to an incredible show but the drinks suck but you don't care because the show was so good!

( Yes they videoed it and it may or may not make it to here. Up to him. :)   )

And just like that, your career as a mohel is over before it even got off the ground.

Funny story. 🤣

I hope the surgery went well, and the cigar was still a pleasant experience for you.

I fell in love with the Monte #1's after Rob and Ken's video about them and selling the hand picked ESL NOV 18.  I purchased a PSP box of ESL May 19 later.   I will say they can have a very tight draw sometimes so cutting that low might have helped LOL.  I had some friends go on a fishing trip to Canada last year and I sent them some from that box to smoke.   They all thought it was one of the best cigars they have smoked.

Was cutting a BBF one day when my 3-year-old was playing in the yard. She fell off their swing and banged her head hard on a tree root. She started screaming right as I cut, and I jerked my hand toward the cutter. My thumb got caught in the outer part of the cutter, not the blade but the frame or whatever.... pinched the f*#% outta my thumb. Not a huge injury to either of us, but gave the cigar a little extra twang.

Glad your grandson is able to go home, and hope the surgery went alright. Haven’t been to Nashville in awhile. Great place to visit!
