I was so much enjoying the cold draw of an aged Monte Edmundo yesterday and I wanted to see how many others savor the cold draw on a cigar.  I don't necessarily get it on every cigar, but the Monte last night was one of those cigars that I cut and then chewed on and smelled and drew on for an hour before I lit it.  To me, it's one of the things about some cigars that can be as special as the smoking of it.

Anyone else out there take a bunch of time savoring a cold draw?  What are your recent favorites?  Just curious.

At times a cold draw is so good I savor it for a while. Nice to be able to slow down and enjoy the hobby :)

I rarely spend much time on the draw, but I do like to pass certain cigars under my nose for a while. LGC, ERdM and Cohiba for the hay and honey, Bolivar for the leather, and you can’t beat an aged Partagas for the barnyard twang. Of course my wife thinks they all smell like an animal of some sort

I also don't spend much time on the cold draw, well until I had a 2001 Partagas Corona Grande(42 x 6 3/32"). I spent 10 minutes enjoying the cold draw and chewed on it a bit.  I am too young to know that ole Partagas flavor, but I imagine this is what everyone talks about.  Because of that one cigar, I now take the time to cold draw every smoke there after.

Generally, MC cigars have GREAT cold draw: Edmundo, Petit Edmundo, MC No. 4 & 5 and Especiales is as good as smoking them. Don't know why it is so special when it's a Montecristo. I always like to enjoy a few cold puffs and also smell the wrapper and the foot a few times before lighting them. Doing this is like transitioning to the mood of smoking cigars. Feels good, man.

Yes - a couple of us would do that every week during summer poker night 40 yrs ago. Since we could not smoke in our houses (the adults could but not us teenagers) would just cut and enjoy taste and aroma while playing cards.  Then after game would light them up outside.

Edmundo is a 99/100 for me to do this. I don't know what it is, but that specific marca/vitola is one that gets me every time on the cold draw. I do this a lot with Lusi's as well.

I appreciate this thread, @Chibearsv as it is a nice reminder to slow down a bit and enjoy it.

The cigar might be disappointed, but foreplay is for tender lovers.  So, I wouldn't know.

Wait, you guys aren't listening to Careless Whisper when you smoke a cigar?

This is my exact scenario anytime I try to get the old lady going by smelling a box of great stogies.
