01Vert Posted November 10, 2022 Posted November 10, 2022 Hello everyone, I have only recently started down this Cuban cigar rabbit hole and I have been asked to split a box with a buddy who enjoyed a couple Punch coronations in tubos he has tried. Looking for recommendations on low to mid priced (for Cubans) cigars to recommend to him that have little to no pepper and a creamy quality to the smoke, smooth and medium or medium-light in strength. Any help would be appreciated. The biggest issue I find is the lack of stock and my inexperience when it comes to the gamut of Cubans. TIA
Chibearsv Posted November 10, 2022 Posted November 10, 2022 I think H Upmann #2 is right in the wheelhouse based on your description. Might be a largish cigar for a beginner but it’s got the profile you’re looking for.
Popular Post targa88 Posted November 10, 2022 Popular Post Posted November 10, 2022 I would potentially suggest Hoyo De Monterrey Epicure #2. Creamy - oreo flavours. Robusto size. 7
El Presidente Posted November 10, 2022 Posted November 10, 2022 If you come across them, El Rey Del Mundo Choix Supreme. Gorgeous 3

Wfriar Posted November 10, 2022 Posted November 10, 2022 Hoyo Epi 2 or petite robusto. Haven’t tried a De Depute to recommend it.
01Vert Posted November 10, 2022 Author Posted November 10, 2022 Forgot to mention he smokes new world stuff so not a complete newbie to cigars, just to Cubans. thank you all for the suggestions. Now to find something in stock or (hopefully) on 24:24
Bill Hayes Posted November 11, 2022 Posted November 11, 2022 There were a few on 24:24 weekend that might suit - Hoyo Epicure Especial, Upmann Mag 54, QDO #50. Some in 10 count boxes that could be the go for you guys. Get to try two different cigars instead of 25 of the same. But 5 less cigars. Could always get a 1/4 box as well. 26 cigars and 3 different ones to try. I second the Hoyo Epi #2 Robusto as a good choice. Cheers.
01Vert Posted November 15, 2022 Author Posted November 15, 2022 Thanks Picked up a box of the Hoyop EEs to have him try. That and a box of Bolivar Belicos Finos are incoming from a prior 24:24 IIRC.
patrickamory Posted November 15, 2022 Posted November 15, 2022 BBF blew away a friend who is mainly familiar with non-Cubans.
KCCubano Posted November 15, 2022 Posted November 15, 2022 For a smaller format the Monte Media Corona would do nicely. Just had a excellent example over weekend

SCgarman Posted November 15, 2022 Posted November 15, 2022 Upmann Connie#1. Creamy, smooth, buttered toast, mild Earth. Medium/body. Perfect for a Cuban noob. 1
