As the title says, I've got a cigar cutter that is getting a bit dull, and yes its a pretty cheap one but I've had it a long time, and I'm a cheapskate/broke and a DIYer, then I thought    anyone ever used a file to sharpen one of these suckers? Or another tool?

Looking for good advice or to be made fun of B)

I have. But then again I am REALLY into blades. I found a stone shaped like a drop gas tank on an airplane. A tad smaller than palm sized. Maybe 1/4 of the width of the blade. 1000 grit. Go slow and easy on the bevel side until the burr raises on the flat side. Then nice and flat on a regular stone just until the burr disappears.

But between the disassembly and you only have so much blade before you get a gap between the blades, I would only do it on a really valuable cutter or one that meant alot to me. Other than I replace them.

Then again, I'll try things just to see if I can. 👍

I haven't, but I know bonsai artists shape their concave cutters with round stones so it should be possible to find.

Nope. Have been using the same $50 Davidoff double edge guillotine for some 25 years or so. Still does a fantastic job. You can either buy cheap and dispose of every few years, or buy quality for a bit more and have it last until the day you die.

Ah, far more likely I'd lose it then have it last until I die.

Yes… Use a variable speed die grinder and Cratex abrasive wheels/points. Done in minutes, done many a time.

Been meaning to make a video of it… just never got around to it.
