Ken Gargett Posted February 9, 2022 Posted February 9, 2022 apparently back in 2016, Rolls-Royce introduced illuminated hood ornaments, the famous Spirit of Ecstasy could be lit up. personally, that would not be my thing but i am unlikely to ever have to worry. the bureaucrats in brussels, however, did worry and they banned them. now, you might possibly be forgiven for thinking that finally, a bureaucrat had developed good taste but no. the reason they were banned? light pollution. seriously. 1
Islandboy Posted February 9, 2022 Posted February 9, 2022 Yeah...never mind that it’s got a gas-guzzling 12 cylinder engine that pollutes in far more sinister ways. 1

Chibearsv Posted February 10, 2022 Posted February 10, 2022 So Brussels must have all other problems solved. Good on them. 2
La_Tigre Posted February 10, 2022 Posted February 10, 2022 So then, they must not drive with headlights on in the dark in Belgium in order to have a supreme view of the starry night sky….got it.

Instead of having us eat grass fed beef they will have us eating the grass we used to feed the beef, while telling us it’s a bone in Ribeye, only without the ribeye and without the bone. Sad truth, about 55 percent of the human population will believe them and try and tell the remaining 45 percent it’s true 18 hours ago, La_Tigre said: So then, they must not drive with headlights on in the dark in Belgium in order to have a supreme view of the starry night sky….got it. And just how much light is the illuminated hood ornament putting out anyway? I’m sure it’s very few candle watts of power or it would blind the driver in the first place. It’s like the same influence they hold over commercial parking requirements for new construction. On one hand they want to save the environment by controlling the added run off from the conversion of bare ground to impervious pavement; however, on the other hand they require you to size the parking lot for the largest fire truck in town to turn around in effortlessly, as well as provide a parking spot per 100 square foot of building space which is absurd.
cigcars Posted February 10, 2022 Posted February 10, 2022 *On the other hand when I was stationed overseas in Europe we'd heard about how the young hooligans there were going around snatching the hood emblems off Mercedes Benzes, Rolls Royces, etc. Maybe the powers that be figured these lighted hood ornaments would be too great an added temptation for these youngsters to increase the theft of those decorative hood symbols...
