There can be quite some confusion with Cohiba releases with a Piramides vitola because prior to the eventual regular production release in 2012, there were seven instances of special releases in the Cohiba marca utilising the traditional 52 ring gauge x 156 mm (or 6⅛ inches) length. The Cohiba Piramides Extra is actually slightly larger (54 ring gauge x 160 mm or 6¼ inches). Why? No one is sure.

One thing I'm sure of though...there was a Limited Edition Cohiba Piramides release around 2006. It came packaged in a black lacquered boîte nature box of 10 cigars. I know this because Rob C (our dear FoH friend from Canberra, Australia) gifted me one about five years ago.

Possibly legit, although a mistake in the date code stamp is fairly rare. 06 Piramides did have codes on the bottom of the SBN in addition to the outer cardboard and was often stamped above the Habanos stamp:

They were produced with a POS, ROA and OPU code in SEP-DIC 06.

Nothing else I see would rule out them being genuine, although the sticks look pretty rough.

Ditto.

There would be a run of OTC 06

Of course. With numerous examples of Habanos Quality Assurance in the past and even now at the present time it's plausible that someone would switch the 'C' and 'T' in OCT on a Date Stamp!

Yes, far from something that would rule out it being genuine. I've seen it but far less often than one would expect based on the typical Habanos QC standards.

I have one of these gifted by a member here for sentimental reasons replacing one I'd bought and smoked as my first Cuban I think. At a minimum the first I had as a recognised and appreciated Cuban

As mentioned

Is there a reason why some pictures are such low resolution? I'd prefer if the band close-up picture was clearer as it seems they may be slightly irregular...

Yea, those closeup pics are frighteningly poor quality.  Hmmmmmm

Those photos are terrible. A real Cohiba band shows a gap between the loops of the C.

Maybe they were taken around the date of the box. Who knows. Box may not be for sale.

Regardless, I don't see anything a higher res pic would reveal. The box, bands and materials appear to be genuine. Either the cigars themselves are fake or they're not, so this would be purely a provenance consideration but seeing as how one stick looks like the head is unraveling I'm not sure how confident I am in storage, and consequently provenance.

Shouldn't there be a cedar sheet between the cigars and the wax paper? John

Apparently no. I've gone through the last 30 BR auction lots and did not see one including those sold by FOH Admin. Most don't have a pic of the glassine/leaflet/card but the ones that do do not have the cedar sheet:
