Popular Post El Presidente Posted September 12, 2021 Popular Post Posted September 12, 2021 Gregory Motola put together a good article. https://www.cigaraficionado.com/article/a-timeline-of-fat-ring-gauge-cigars 5 2
Popular Post MrBirdman Posted September 13, 2021 Popular Post Posted September 13, 2021 Interesting how the article references the importance of “value perception” to customers. in that more tobacco=better cigar. I would think more flavor=better cigar but I hate fat cigars so I guess I would! 6

I would think more flavor=better cigar but I hate fat cigars so I guess I would! It's not for free at least in the CC world. Best value in terms of smoke time and tobacco weight is probably PC, Corona Gordas or Pyramides. The big RG CCs tend to have a premium, Connie A, Rio Seco, etc.

I can't think of a 52+ RG CC besides the piramides that has a small margin. Especially given cost of wrapper leaf. Rio Seco and Connie A are very close to DC prices.
Glass Half Full Posted September 13, 2021 Posted September 13, 2021 I am amazed by the incredible array of flavors that come from slender cigars. My all time favorite, the one I now judge all others by, was the La Escepcione Selectos Finos. Granted, I had no idea what I was in for (and oftentimes, for me, expectations play a role, bit it was a revelation about what a cigar can be. I understand and appreciate that fatter cigars can be very satisfying, but they have the advantage of so much filler that it can (it seems to me) make up for deficiencies. But when a skinny cigar is perfect, it is just "Wow!" There is no room for error. It is an accomplishment like a perfect bite at a 3-star restaurant. (There's a place for all, of course. I like great pizza as much as the next guy. ...but it's incredible when every note just hits high. ...And, in my experience, as rare as that is, I've only experienced that from Cuban cigars, and skinny's have done that more than any others for me.) 2

Meesterjojo Posted September 13, 2021 Posted September 13, 2021 I'm surprised they missed that old nat Sherman with a 70 rg. Or was it a 60? I think it was part of their metropolitan line.
ATGroom Posted September 13, 2021 Posted September 13, 2021 I've posted these a few times over the years, but here is a graph showing the average ring gauge of Cuban Cigars over time. 3 1

ha_banos Posted September 13, 2021 Posted September 13, 2021 Introduced my BIL to the joys of slenderellas with a 2010 mdo no.4. He was suitably surprised by the flavour. Had a couple of fatties lined up for after but they'll have to wait for another day! Hope they live up to the Gloria! 3
