Popular Post Bijan Posted June 26, 2021 Popular Post Posted June 26, 2021 Biggest cigar I have ever smoked and also the rarest a 2001 Cuaba Diademas. 300 dress boxes of 5 coffins made. 1500 cigars in total in numbered coffins. This one was 510/1500. The dress box and the coffins have a wonderful rich cedar smell. This and the relatively solid construction of the cigar were pretty much the high points of this review as regards anything to do with the cigar. Smoked this last night when Montreal beat Las Vegas in game 6 to go on to the Stanley Cup finals. Game went into overtime, because I cut my cigar in the third period and jinxed things. Fortunately Montreal scored early in overtime and I didn't have to wait too long to get started. Busted out spotify again and listened to the relaxing song Fade Into You by Mazzy star a couple of times as I started on the cigar (my wife abhors the song as being super depressing). Cigar lights up with fake cream you get when lighting some lighter cigars, especially when they feel dry for some reason. Also common to Fonsecas and Hoyo Palmas Extras. Draw is good but smoke output is low. I assume it's because the head of the cigar is over 9 inches from the foot. By the end of the second play of the song I'm getting some fake vanilla, another slightly less pleasant taste, tastes vaguely like vanilla with artifical sweetener. From here I put on Beggar's Banquet one of the 3 Rolling Stones albums I like so that I can relax and not have to DJ on my phone for 2-3 hours. The cigar is pretty much done providing flavour. All I'm getting is gasoline now, I'm guessing from poor combustion. Pop onto zoom with @Kaptain Karl halfway through the album. Fun time and good distraction from the insipid cigar. Hints of the aroma of the garbage bin I left in my garage for 4 weeks because I missed garbage pickup at times mix with the gasoline now. This is the absolute low point of the cigar. Other than faint hints of gasoline and literal garbage the cigar is pretty flavourless until about the halfway point. I decide to make a cut a bit higher to open it up. Smoke output goes up a bit. Get a tiny bit of spice, maybe incense at times. Pretty weak. That's the best I get. Zoom wraps up and the album comes back on. Keep on puffing away through the final third. At some point I get tar build up, or soggyness at the head, and give the cigar another cut. Cigar is a bit stronger now, but still flavourless. Getting a little tingling on the tongue but no flavour. Cigar was probably both the least flavoursome and weakest I've ever had. More than one step down strength/body wise from a Fonseca. On the other hand as rubbish as the flavours were, it somehow wasn't a chore to smoke. Especially with the distractions of the music and the zoom. I'd give it 2/5 or just under. Smokeable but just barely. Only lasted 2 hours in the end, but not quite to a nub. Without the zoom interlude, music-wise I think for a cigar of this size I'd settle for a slow song to start and another one at the end with 2 or 3 steady albums in between. More than a little happy I traded the other single I had for some slightly less rare but hopefully less crappy cigars. 17 2
Connoisseur Kim Posted June 26, 2021 Posted June 26, 2021 Sad to see you had a real donkey dick poopy rocket/wheel of torture @Bijan 😱. I can see why Distinguidos and Divinos are the only two regular production staples in Cuaba. BTW, have you tried Cuaba APAC RE before? James Suckling posted Cuaba APAC RE review on his FB & IG too and he really enjoyed it a lot (95 pts). 1

Haven't tried that one yet. i believe @JohnS and some other Sydney members got some from Rob. Think there's a review post around. I'll find it tomorrow. 1 1

Glad that Cuaba APAC RE is going to be successful RE like Punch 8-9-8 and ERDM Tainos 😄. 2

Studies have demonstrated a discernible positive effect for music on the enjoyment of wine, and I see no reason why cigars would be any different. Music is the most human of all arts forms, the only kind of art found in every culture ever known. Our instinctive reaction to mere series of tones is remarkable, and surely the aspect of our species most likely to perplex any extraterrestrial visitors. Well, that and the male penchant for phallic metaphors. 1
