Popular Post griller Posted May 30, 2021 Popular Post Posted May 30, 2021 Picked up a half box of these from a generous botl on another forum who was liquidating some inventory for personal reasons. Really enjoyed it and can't wait to see how these continue to evolve over the coming years. Construction, Draw, and Burn: 4 out of 5. Draw was perfect, producing tons of smoke with the resistance I like. Had to touch up 2x, but very minor to just even the sides out. Smoked it down to the label, when it was starting to get overly bitter. 1st Half: 5 out of 5. Lit it up & got deep dark bitter chocolate & leather. Yum! After 7-8 minutes it evolved into a medium bodied smoke with leather, tobacco, with a stewed fruit & creamy finish. Then a slight "twang" showed up 20-25 minutes into the cigar. Literally nothing negative I can say so far about this SLR. Final Half: 4.5 out of 5. The dark chocolate didn't stick around, but the smooth yet distinct leather & tobacco hues continued to develop and increase in character. The fruit morphed into a more earthy taste, which I'd say wasn't in the realm of a Boli PC but still present. As the burn neared the label, this flavor profile continued but never got hot or overly tannic. Final Thoughts: Fantastic cigar that will continue to develop. I'd say it could go another 8-10 yrs and still not exceed the potential of the blend. I'll be looking to score a '19 or '20 box for smoking now and aging. Makes it SO unfortunate that Habanos has wrecked this Marque, as the Serie A was one of my favorite Corona Gorda sized cigars 10-15 yrs ago, and the SLR Lonsdale and DC were quite good, too. Libation: Paired with a Black & Tan. I've found this concoction goes great with cigars. One issue is Bass Ale is getting hard to find around here. Any recommendations that match up with the Guiness? 10

Kevin48438 Posted May 30, 2021 Posted May 30, 2021 With Harp it’s usually called a “Half & Half” in most bars. Haven’t tried it but I’d bet the Guinness Blonde would work well too. https://www.amazon.com/Guinness-Official-Merchandise-unknown-Engraved/dp/B0006PWLR4/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=guinness+spoon&qid=1622408527&sprefix=guinness+spoo&sr=8-3 If you really like them these are how the Irish pubs get the layering effect. 1

Queens88 Posted June 1, 2021 Posted June 1, 2021 In England, where the drink originates, the tan part would be a cask ale (non-carbonated). I’ve lived in a pub for the last 16 years and have never served one. 1
Huckleberry Posted June 10, 2021 Posted June 10, 2021 Black and Blue works well, Guinness and Blue Moon. Also a bumble bee or yellow jacket, Guinness and cider. 1
Chris P. Bacon Posted June 10, 2021 Posted June 10, 2021 Did a Google search and found these popular combinations: https://learn.kegerator.com/guinness-blends/ Guiness and Sam Adams Cherry Wheat is intriguing. 1
